Rec for Howard Zinn ...he was our national treasure.
If only we were all like him and would do as he has done, we would actually be in control of our government. We would actually get things changed. We would be out in the street speaking with our civil disobedience in mass. Nothing of real importance changes without some sacrifice and he was willing to do just that, even if it meant getting beat up by the cops , going to jail and losing his job. Did women get the right to vote by voting? Did Vietnam stop because of voting? Did equal rights come about because we voted on it? Do you really think we can subdue the corporations by voting? Can we stop the Afghanistan war by voting? Can we get health care for everyone by voting? Can we get administrative war crimes prosecuted by voting?

Do you think Howard would advocate voting for politicians so they will fix these sorts of things? Rec if you think he was right. Rec if you also think of him as a national treasure. Rec for all those who think like him ...there are only a few left.

5. If only we'd all have the fortitude to do and act as he did against the status quo.
I just can't believe that voting will ever get us out of the mess we are in. It looks like the corporations have won.
