Excellent diary by nyceve with a video interview with Cong. Van Hollen at the link. http://www.dailykos.com/storyonly/2010/2/1/832409/-Rep.-Chris-Van-Hollen-(video):-Unlikely-50-Senate-votes-for-Public-Option

I simply have a hard time believing we can't get 50 Dems behind a Public Option in the Senate. This is where the voters of MA truly screwed up.

2. It's not the voters that screwed up. It's Congress
We were never going to get the public option. We couldn't get it with 60 votes. Hell, we probably couldn't have gotten it with 80 votes. Either the democrats are completely spineless or they have been bought off by the insurance companies or maybe it's both.

What makes you think we would have gotten it with Coakley in office? The voters are pissed at Congress and in November the voters will have their say.

15. You tell me, would it be easier to convince Coakley to support it or Brown?

We were never going to get the Public Option. I don't care who is in office. The insurance companies have bought them all.

THERE IS GOING TO BE NO LEGISLATION PASSED THAT DOES NOT ENRICH CORPORATIONS.

The Congress of the Coporate Persons of America will not shoot themselves in their own collective foot. They are selected and elected by corporations; they are funded by corporations; they are rewarded by corporations; and they can be destroyed by corporations.

We keep debating this public option and that single payer when, in the end, the result is going to be the same: somehow, some way, the corporations will PROFIT from any legislation that is passed. And when corporations profit, especially regarding healthcare, we pay.

Our government exists of, by, and for the corporations. And what the corporations say goes, will go.

Until We the People do something about it.

Edit: Grammar.

12. I don't mean that we should not fight for what we want. But
in the end the corporations will come out the winner, not us.

6. If true then why do we care if Dems have a majority in the Senate?
What benefit is it if the repugs/Blue Dogs/DLC Democrats block any truly progressive legislation?

The only thing that will make them take notice is losing their job.
