Congressional sausage making Part 1..
Just checking to see how many, like me, like to see what our Congress is up to:
I can share this on a regular weekly basis if there is enough interest.

Selected Bills of interest will be tracked as they wend their way thru the
Congressional system, or they may die in Committee.

Bills introduced as a result of the SOTUS decision:

H.R. 4522:
Rep. William Pascrell D-NJ
33 co-sponsers
Prohibiting Foreign Influence in American Elections Act
Referred to the House Committee on House Administration.

Rep. Thomas Perriello introduced H.R. 4523:
To amend the Federal Election Campaign Act of 1971 to apply the ban on contributions and expenditures by foreign nationals to domestic corporations whose shareholders include any foreign principals.

Biils Introduced by "the good guys"

S. 2952:
Sen Al Franken D-MN
A bill to establish funds to rapidly create new jobs in the private and public sector
Read twice and referred to the Committee on Banking, Housing, and Urban Affairs.

H.R. 4519:
Rep. Steve Israel D-NY introduced.
To direct the Secretary of the Treasury to make publicly available on the Internet the electronic communications of certain TARP recipients.
Bill was Referred to the House Committee on Financial Services.

The recs will tell me...

It takes about an hour to dig around and find these.
But..it sure gives me a sense of what Congress is doing.

I can put a 2nd part up a bit later today.

10. I have all the info to put it tegether, EF.
Takes a bit of time, and i would probably be doing it before noon.
But I figured I had spotted a few people who would be interested in keeping up with the trend in
legislation, and what the Congress is thinking about.

21. The Silence From Many Politicians Is Deafening...
Kudos to those who are proposing ways to circumvent this attrocious decission...and I'm hoping that those who are willing to sell out to corporates for political and personal gain are tatooed with corporate labels and shamed out of office.

What strikes me is how few in Congress have said boo. We know the rushpublicans love this ruling cause it legalizes their kleptocracy and their great unhinged either don't care or are blissfully ignorant. But I haven't heard much of an uproar from Democrats on this matter...many knowing that corporate campaign money is their lifeblood...without the big bucks they can't get past primaries and buy the massive amounts of teevee time to be competitive.

Sadly, any bill to "fix" this situation is doomed to failure as there's no political will...nor the votes. Our "democracy" was always the best money could buy and now it's for sale on both sides of the aisle.
