Lawmaker introduces antigay-marriage bill (PA)
About eight months after he pledged to introduce a bill that would institute a ban on same-sex marriage in the state constitution, Pennsylvania Sen. John Eichelberger (R-30th Dist.) has made good on his promise.

SB 707, which Eichelberger introduced Jan. 26, would add to the Pennsylvania Constitution the language: “Only a union of one man and one woman shall be valid and recognized as marriage.”

Eichelberger announced his intention to spearhead such an initiative last May, and Sen. Daylin Leach (D-17th Dist.) shortly thereafter introduced a measure that seeks to legalize same-sex marriage in the Keystone State.

To amend the constitution, both chambers of the state legislature would have to pass the so-called Marriage Protection Amendment in two consecutive sessions before the question is posed to voters.

2. And then the campaigns will start - I want one of the pro-gay groups
to put out a very simple, very blunt, very honest ad.

Gays and Lesbians have been getting married in the US for over 5 years now and NOTHING the people who oppose this have tried to scare you with has happened. Not one thing. If you vote for this, you're a bigot - plain and simple, there's nothing left to hide behind anymore

3. Another fine example of what people in this area tend to elect to office.

Not only is this guy Homophobic, he was basically elected due to his strong stance of being "Pro-life". Around here, if you speak out against the LGBT community and claim that you want to put an end to a woman's right to choose, you're pretty much guaranteed to be elected. The 2 to 1 Rep. to Dem. ratio doesn't hurt either.

He gets lots of TV air time since his wife works for the local TV station. The local public access channel had one recent show with him and his wife and they kept referring to him as "The Chosen One" that is going to transform state and national government. I wish that I could find the link to it, but I can't find it right now. It was surreal to say the least.

I've passed him quite a few times while he's jogging and I was on my bike and it always makes me a bit nauseated to get that close to him.

This guy is your basic far RW nut, but he's popular here so it looks as though he's going to be around for awhile.

Link to his website if you'd like to let him know how you feel.
