5. everything at librivox is public domain. you'd do better to ask the folks at google
your question, they're the ones trying to scoop up even copyrighted work.

10. I was just joshing.
:hi:

I always do think of Poe as kind of a downer. And memory lane: we got to see 'Pit And The Pendulum' on a huge screen in the high school auditorium many moons ago. It was scary!

13. I was just playing along... I know it sounds like I'm trying to spin
it but sometimes when you sort of feel a person is joshing, it's kinda ok imho to go along with it. I didn't know it was made into a movie... but wait, I think I do remember it being in the telly... off to Netflix I go. :)

11. Nice... very nice, this is an interesting note from the site:
To determine the ranking we count the times each file gets downloaded. Both HTTP and FTP transfers are counted. Only transfers from ibiblio.org are counted as we have no access to our mirrors log files. Multiple downloads from the same IP address on the same day count as one download. IP addresses that download more than 100 files a day are considered robots and are not considered. Books made out of multiple files like most audio books are counted if any file is downloaded.

Robots.... who knew they were into reading????

16. I just completed a musical work based on a Poe poem
The Haunted Palace. We will be recording it in June and holding a contest for filmmakers and film students to make a video to the score.

I was familiar with Project Gutenberg, but will definitely add this link to my list of public domain resources. Thanks!!!:hi:

17. Fuck "Copyright"
Pay the artiste directly -- buy his/her books, music, paintings, etc.

And starve out the "content providers".

What we have now isn't copyright, it's state-sanctioned larceny.

Every author on the planet sells his/her work through his own website, and you pay us through PayPal or something?

25. Librivox is a great site
If you search using archive.org, the Librivox results will come up with a miniplayer ready to go on the webpage itself.

And that way if no one has put the public domain book into audio yet, you'll still get the text results from Project Gutenberg or whatever other project has scanned and OCR'd the text.

Love access!
