Gagging order on David Kelly records could be lifted
Source: Guardian UK

Lord Hutton has responded to reports that a 70-year gagging order he imposed on records and photos relating to the death of the government scientist Dr David Kelly could be challenged by stating that the documents could be revealed to doctors.

In a U-turn, Hutton said the information could be released to five doctors who are seeking to reopen the inquest into Kelly's death.

"I requested that the postmortem report should not be disclosed for 70 years as I was concerned that the publication of that report would cause daughters and his wife further and unnecessary distress," Hutton said.

"I consider that the disclosure of the report to doctors and their legal advisers for the purposes of legal proceedings would not undermine the protection which I wished to give."

3. If nothing else makes me suspicious, a 70-year ban sure does

4. Hutton is a fugging LIAR
He knows that Kelly was murdered or those records would not have been hidden. Kelly's family should go public and demand that the war criminals and the murderer of the doctor should face the consequences of his act.
He is giving those war criminals a chance to cover this murder up until they die. Fuck all this whitewash rubbish.

8. Of course using Hutton's logic, the family
were not upset at being told their husband/father committed suicide, but they'd be devastated if they hear the truth - that he was murdered.
That is beyond tortured logic. It's nothing more than a government cover up.

9. There is really only one question: do they really expect people to buy their rationale?
If they do they are further gone than we ever thought.

My guess is they couldn't care less whether they are believed or not.

10. Unbelievable.
Britain is as screwed up as the U.S., and I take no comfort in that.

5. Lord Hutton is like the go-to guy for cover-ups in Britain, isn't he.
Seems like I've seen his name pop up through the years since the Iraq invasion was cooked up between bush* and the Poodle.

Sealing records for 70 years isn't suspicious at ALL. :eyes:

7. I hope they're ordered to stop gagging.
I think they're called Gag Orders.

A gagging Order would be this: "Stop gagging!"
