people AFTER he had already killed Tiller? Clearly he had achieved his objective. Yet he felt it necessary to point a gun at two unarmed people who were not trying to harm him, just stop him.

1. Roeder shares a common misconception

One doesn't become a "martyr" by killing others for one's cause; one becomes a martyr by dying for one's cause. So, when the first tentacles of responsibility reached out to him, his first, automatic reaction was to continue his violence. Being tossed in the clink for breaking a law that everyone agrees is just and proper isn't martyrdom, either. The laws against murder go back to the earliest formation of human society. But you'll see that fake equivalency trotted out by Roeder and his demented supporters, as well.

I'm glad he got very good legal representation, took the stand in his own defense, and had as far as I can tell a full and fair trial on the merits. It also appears that he conducted his defense pretty much in accordance with what he wanted to present at trial. And he's now guilty. A murderer. And decidedly not a martyr.
