40 minute deliberation. truTV just reported it and went to a break. Eta: Expect it in 10 minutes.

Wow. Well he confessed on the stand, so I guess the jury sat around doing crossword puzzles in the deliberation room so it didn't seem as if they rushed to judgement.

7. From my experience 5-10 minutes tops
It must have been a unanimous vote on the first take and they were just stalling so it didn't look bad.

16. So they were hanging out in the jury room to make it look
like they took some time to deliberate :-).

11. Depends On How Many Counts They Have To Vote On...
Plus add in time for one last reading of the charges and instructions from the judge...a stop to the poweder room and a cup of coffee and donut. As long as they get the verdict right, that's all that matters.

10. I don't know if I should admit this
but I sat on a courts-martial board back in the 80's. It was kind of an easy verdict to get to but we decided to hang out in the room we were sequestered in a little longer because the lunch we were scheduled to get was sposed to be very good that day. It was. We rendered a verdict after lunch.

15. I don't think that's uncommon BOSSHOG
I've only been on two juries in my life, but I remember in one of them some people wanted to drag it out another day so they didn't have to go to work.

whooo! I feel better. Is the death penalty an option in this case? I hope so. And I hope the appeals go on for 23 years so he can suffer, and then fry. I'll be happy to pay the extra taxes.

20. I'm against the death penalty most of the time
but, in his case I'd reconsider, in memory of all the women who died by illegal abortions and coat hangers. WE WILL NOT GO BACK!

19. truTV reported that there are even bomb sniffing dogs in the courtroom
They'll get the Tiller family out of the room after the verdict is read to keep them safe.

30. He'll be 76 when he's eligible for parole.
Hopefully too old by then to cause harm to anyone else.
