2. Natural causes for both.
If I were going to have my two favorite authors die at the same time, I'd hope there'd be a connection between the two and something more dramatic. Hail of gunfire, drunken attempt at recreating William Tell, adrenochrome overdose, something with a bang.

3. Yeah, I know how you feel...
"What really knocks me out is a book that, when you're all done reading it, you wish the author that wrote it was a terrific friend of yours and you could call him up on the phone whenever you felt like it. That doesn't happen much, though." -Holden Caulfield

4. Death & pain & the maladies of old age suck - they befall prophets & good thinkers...
Death is a Rip! And when & if called before some nebulous council I intent to argue against it. Prophets and good thinkers should be designed to last much-much longer

5. wow, the last embers are getting dim
:patriot:

think of O'reily, Hannity, Limbaugh, et al. and their popularity. it's hopeless to think that "we the people" will FORCE politicians to lead in the right direction. they'll need to lead us.

7. All is not lost though!
They are still going to use it for experiments to judge the movement of the planet and other fun scienc-y kind of things. In fact, one of the researchers said that this may be even more useful than it's continual exploration.

8. Isn't there a Salinger book awaiting publication?
Very sad, I greatly admire each of them.
