I think the Republicans have found a new spokesman.
This guy is well,I have no words. You'll have to read it.

I do not know if what I’m about to write makes me a monster. I do know that it makes me a part of a miniscule minority, if Internet trends and news stories of the past weeks are any guide.

“It”, is this:

I haven’t donated a cent to the Haitian relief effort. And I probably will not.

I haven’t donated to the Haitian relief effort for the same reason that I don’t give money to homeless men on the street. Based on past experiences, I don’t think the guy with the sign that reads “Need You’re Help” is going to do anything constructive with the dollar I might give him. If I use history as my guide, I don’t think the people of Haiti will do much with my money either.

1. Why can't they just say they won't give because they are selfish?
Why must they try to justify their lack of compassion by displaying their complete ignorance?

It is better to remain silent...

2. He's worse than selfish. Did you read this pleasant thought?
Dear Haitians –

First of all, kudos on developing the poorest country in the Western Hemisphere. Your commitment to human rights, infrastructure, and birth control should be applauded.

As we prepare to assist you in this difficult time, a polite request: If it’s possible, could you not re-build your island home in the image of its predecessor? Could you not resort to the creation of flimsy shanty- and shack-towns? And could some of you maybe use a condom once in a while?

Sincerely,

The Rest of the World

3. not a monster but uninformed
I too dont send money to countries where disasters have struck simply because the money never reaches the populace. It is either blatantly stolen or, as in the case of Ethiopia, or another country not sure which, tons of powdered milk were allowed to rot on the docks since the govt goons who tried to sell it were unsuccessful so they preferred to let it rot. Furthermore i NEVER donate to christian charities since that means the poor recipient must allow himself to be converted or at least to listen to that biblical fairy tale claptrap. I also dont give to the red cross since only 25 cents of each dollar actually goes to help someone. The rest is spent on salaries and the salary of the director is, i believe, 200.000 yearly or at least thats what elizabeth dole got.
As to the person on the street. Remember that our nazi view of the homeless was started by Reagan who began by insulting all the women were on welfare. Welfare Queens he called them. In reality many of those on the street were the victims of blood sucking ceo's who gave themselves millions of dollars in bonuses then kicked out the little guy.
Now if i only give a dollar to someone that wont do anything to better his life but if he uses it to get drunk then good for him. If i was in that situation i would want to be drunk all the time as well, in nothing else to forget the situation im in.

8. You are poorly informed historian.
Where is the mountain of aid in Haiti coming from? If everyone thought like you, there would be none arriving.

9. i have experience in that type of thing
I lived in brazil for many years and i saw where "foreign aid" went. Believe me none of it went to the needy. Instead, the politicans wound up with new homes, cars and ranches. So i know whereof i speak. I do give to help the needy, but only when i see them and am able to see where the money goes. So next time calm yourself before spurting out scurrilous statements.

7. Who the hell is Paul Shirley and I hope lightning strikes him dead. Oh, no. I'm a monster!
Actually, dead would be too easy on him. Oh how righty and mighty he is! Oh, and I love his rationale, all long and drawn out and so proud of itself, as if it's all brand new and earth shatteringly revelatory.

American republicans really are a scourge upon all things humanitarian, they really need to be pulled like the weeds they are and dumped into the landfill
