Anyone watching General Petraeus' speech on CNN? Prepared by NeoCons
I tried to watch his Press Conference or whatever it was on CNN just now and was amazed at how "scripted" it seems to be. He's reading in a monotone about Al Qaeda iss in Iraq ...it's Al Qaeda's "central front" in the war. Al Qaeda.... Al Qaeda ..... Al Qaeda

Then he started to go into the successes except for Syria and Iran's influence reading off numbers and statistics in that monotone.

Who wrote the speech for him? Or, was it a "consensus" deal written by a group?

I felt I was watching the Iraq War being SOLD once again.

MSNBC didn't carry it...they are having a Dem Bash fest over there promoting tonight's debate.

1. I've read he quietly had restrictions against domestic propaganda lifted
so he can propagandize to the American people without restraint, uniform or no uniform.

4. I was watching the Dem Bash
--emphasis on "was".

Not surprised about Petraeus though. I'm sure any remarks he made were thoroughly vetted by the political eyes of the WH.

8. completely dishonest to focus so much on al-Qaeda
when their own intelligence says al-Qaeda is responsible for little more than a single percentage of the violence in Iraq

9. I've noticed the news repeaters (er, reporters) chewing up the "Al Qaeda" qualifier left and right.
Then they'll bury an "alleged" somewhere further down the article.

11. Speech writers = marketing people
My impression is that when Petraeus first went to Iraq he took some marketing people with him to sing his praises at press conferences.

Petraeus perhaps got his current position because he marketed himself the best of all the generals who have been out there.

"Advertising sells product" as my old boss at work used to say.

Petraeus is a complete squid but he might be a slightly more intelligent one. He may need to be watched carefully.

12. I saw the Dem bash fest on MSNBC, too, but turned
it off when some asshole called Kucinich a "flake."

Moyers was so incredible last night on the media/Bush Crime Family partnership in beating the drums for Iraq. Now I'd like to see him call the whores out on their incessant Dem bashing while giving a free pass to repuke criminals.
