Al Gore In Indianapolis: The Message Is Getting Through
Good to know I am not alone in my thinking regarding his devotion to this cause. It would seem many are going to hear Mr. Gore speak on this because they need a leader of the environmental movement who will inspire people to action. I have always believed and still do believe that Mr. Gore IS that leader, and right now there IS no more important mission for our planet than this. With all of the reading I am doing regarding what is happening to this planet and in connecting the dots it is obvious to me that we are indeed headed for a tipping point that will forever change the face of this world if we do not as Mr. Gore stated, "get our act together."

THANKYOU again Mr. Gore for being the environmental statesman and ambassador of our time. {{{{{{ }}}}}}}}}

Al Gore brings environmental message to Indy

April 25, 2007

It was a sold out audience that heard the former Vice President talk about the environment. Gore spoke for 75 minutes about global warming and related issues. The group saw much of the same presentation as depicted in the Oscar winning "An Inconvenient Truth."

Indianapolis - Some call it the biggest crisis facing our generation and generations to come. And the man fighting global warming and other environmental issues brought his message to Indianapolis Tuesday night. There are some that believe the political career of Al Gore is over. Even among speculation that he might run for President again.Katie Mallon was in line to see the now champion of the environment speak Tuesday night. "No, I don't. I think he's said several times he not going to and he's focusing on this," she said. And most of those lining up to see Al Gore say they're not expecting a Presidential run. John Breadenkamp of Indianapolis says he thinks Gore is committed to his current project. "I think he has a warm feeling about the environment and is sincere about what he's doing here with the project."

The former Senator and Vice President was invited by the Beth El-Zedeck congregation, and paid from a Smulyan Memorial lecture fund, to bring his message on the environment. And that is what he did. "And I'm going to talk to you about the danger that we now face because of this climate crisis. It is the most serious challenge our civilization has ever confronted." At times the former presidential candidate resembled a preacher more that a politician. But this time no one is accusing him of flip-flopping. He spoke of taking action. "But the opportunity is for growth and for vision and for moral authority and at a time when this world needs to gets it's act together."

Earlier this year, the documentary-maker who recorded a number of the former Vice President's presentations around the world, was awarded an Academy Award for his efforts.

A sold out crowd came to listen to Gore's 75 minute speech.

1. Mr. Gore At Hamilton College Tonight
http://www.syracuse.com/articles/news/index.ssf?/base/news-7/1177405594219620.xml&coll=1

He is making a difference from out here, and people are listening to him because they see his sincerity without any partisan political pretense. He is changing the hearts and minds of the American people to demand change and to enact it themselves which is a great challenge...especially with the clock ticking and our federal government still using this crisis as a political football.

8. Good for you!
He is larger than life and has always looked good. And the message he is delivering is a moral imperative. I envy you seeing his presentation, although he did shake my hand last summer and that was surely an honor. I'm excited as well about Live Earth and hope to see him there.

9. I would really like to shake his
hand tonight and I don't feel that way about too many people.

I'm wearing my "I AL GORE" tee shirt tonight so maybe he'll see me across a crowded auditorium and do me the honor! :P

3. And we need for states of whatever color to understand this is not a partisan political issue

We are all going to feel the effects of this (and many worldwide already are) and must begin looking beyond politics to find the moral strength and courage to deal with it.

4. Dems gained
quite a bit of ground in the last election in Indiana. My life-long Republican father even admitted his mistake in GWB and plans to vote Dem in the next election "if they put up anyone remotely decent" according to him. That would translate to anybody but Hillary in his language. Dad doesn't talk politics with me or anyone really, but, he's so pissed he'll even admit that his "lefty" daughter was right...that almost never happens!

5. Well, I'm just more familiar with southern IN (which is rather fundie, imo)
Although, they did put Baron Hill back in Congress over Mike Sodrell by a narrow margin.

6. That's true

Southern Indiana is a bit backwards, OK it may as well be Kentucky, the hillbilly parts. No offense to "Bluegrass" DUers, I'm talking about the toothless parts of KY and IN. Although my parents live across the river from Louisville, dad was raised in northern Indiana, outside Ft. Wayne. He's a true Republican, old school, if you will. This is not his republican party that's for sure, and he's well aware of it.

edited for clarification
