He was the White House press secretary tasked with convincing the public--through the White House Press Corps--that Oswald killed Kennedy, would have been convicted at trial, and had no confederates who were still at large. He was given this order from acting Attorney General Nicholas Katzenbach only hours after Ruby killed Oswald and before their relationship had even been investigated. He was given this order, furthermore, before the FBI had even read Kennedy's autopsy report or tested the speed of the Zapruder film, to see if Oswald's purported shooting feat was even POSSIBLE. I love how they actually re-played all those old 2002 clips - it seems almost surreal now. I remember seeing only pro-war hype everywhere, and feeling like I must be crazy to think differently. That was probably the whole point; to make the propaganda so loud & so overwhelming that it could override Americans' common sense. Moyers named names & held the people who hyped this war responsible. And he also interviewed the many people who knew that this war was BS - people you won't see on Meet the Press. It was so refreshing to actually hear some TRUTH again. Thank you, PBS!
