The current Lt. Governor of SC, a member of the "pro-life" party, has stated that he believes giving food assistance to the poor is socially damaging because, like feeding stray animals, it encourages them to continue breeding.

This encapsulates the conservative mentality better than any quote since Rick Santelli said that he didn't want to help out his "loser neighbors."

Why is it that restricting women's rights to their own bodies is seen as saving lives, yet letting people smoke themselves to death (to the tune of half a million dead humans per year) is just fine and dandy with these shortsighted loonies?
