Why all the moaning about the campaign finance ruling?

At the risk of running a cliche further into the ground, have you not been paying attention? Big money already owns the system as any examination of big contributers to major candidates will show. The way they spread their bets around oughta tell ya something, it's win/win for them. The horse is long gone, why bother with the barn door?

This ruling is not the problem, the system is the problem.

1. You make a good point
Every set of laws that was adopted to deal with big money just meant that more clever ways had to be devised to get around them. It's like that with tax law, too.

Frankly, this is a golden opportunity for the President to use his leadership skills to avoid a repeat of Massachussetts around the whole country in November. If he put all of his remaining political energy into getting 100% of the Democrats in Congress to support a Constitutional amendment restoring McCain-Feingold's principles into our most important document, then he can point to Rethugs as clearly the party of no.

If he can't do that, then what's the point of being President during this particular Congress?

2. What no one will admit though is the voters are the problem
The unstated premise behind all of the moaning is: the voters don't have minds of their own, whoever has the most money will have access to the major media and can brainwash them.

If we really are that weak as an electorate, we have another problem.

3. The voters are victims, not the problem.

They are presented with the choice of the lesser of two evils each and every time, with the possibility of 'no evil' dismissed as fanciful, impossible, dangerous. The choice of 'D' or 'R' is a choice of the left or right wing of the Money Party and what differences that exist are irrelevant to capitalism. They keep us at each others throats stirring up social issues(which are seemingly always framed by the right) as long as they can continue reaping the profits of exploitation, war and ecocide.

4. The problem is our politicians. They have absolutely no idea how to manage the media
