FEENEY UNDERSTATED COSTS OF ABRAMOFF GOLF JUNKET, CHIEF OF STAFF RESIGNS, EVERYONE SINGING...

FEENEY UNDERSTATED COSTS OF SCOTLAND GOLF JUNKET WITH ABRAMOFF ACCORDING TO COURT DOCS
Former Chief of Staff Jason Roe 'Abruptly Resigns' From Romney Campaign as Abramoff Said to be 'Talking so Much He Doesn't Have Time to Eat'

Heat Continues to Build as Everyone Starts Singing in the FBI Investigation of the Corrupt Florida Congressman...

-- Brad Friedman

Signs indicate things are getting worse, and quickly, for one of Congresses most corrupt members, Rep. Tom Feeney, a once-powerful Florida Republican whose extensive career of documented lies, political favors, and routine partisan smear-mongering The BRAD BLOG has covered in great detail over the last two and a half years.

Yesterday, Feeney was fingered as "Representative #3" in recent court filings related to the guilty plea of Republican Congressional Aide Mark Zachares, who admitted receiving some $40,000 in cash and gifts from Jack Abramoff. The day before it was revealed that the FBI had recently interviewed Feeney and requested documents related to his 2003 golf junket to St. Andrews, Scotland with Zachares and the disgraced GOP lobbyist.

Today, court documents reveal that the cost of the 2003 trip was closer to $20,000 instead of the $5,643 Feeney claimed when he "paid back" that amount in January of this year, only after the House Ethics Committee found him to be in violation of House Rules that prohibit lobbyist-paid travel.

Further news reports indicate much more trouble is likely ahead for the beleaguered Congressman, as Abramoff is said to be chattering away --- "so much he doesn't have time to eat," according to one news report --- to federal investigators in hopes of reducing a prison sentence he's currently facing in relation to conspiracy fraud charges he's already pled guilty to in Florida.

But if that weren't indication enough that Feeney may be in big, big trouble, it's also now been reported this morning that his former Chief of Staff, Jason Roe --- who, along with his wife, Patricia, have also been the target of corruption allegations --- abruptly resigned from his new position as Deputy Campaign Manager for Presidential candidate Mitt Romney.

Patricia reportedly received some $50,000 from the Feeney campaign for fundraising duties, before becoming Chief of Staff for Rep. Rick Renzi (R-AZ) whose wife's office was raided last week by Federal investigators leading to his resignation this week from all Congressional Committees.

Zachares and wife are cooperating, Abramoff is already singing, Renzi nearing resignation from Congress as he and his wife may now face charges, Roe and his wife now newly under the gun...We might well suggest that Feeney ought to be more than just "nervous" at this point.

Following all of this? You may need to take notes. But we'll try to make it easy for you...

I live about a mile away from Yang Enterprises and always found your reports about that company and Feeneys ties most interesting.

15. "Following all this? ...we'll try to make it easy." -- I suggest a pop-up golf photo
from St Andrews, with Abramoff, Delay, and every other notable who was on the golf junket smiling drunkenly shoulder to shoulder. The pop-ups ideally would have the status of each criminal's investigation, and amounts received from Abramoff on the golf trip and in other crooked deals.

We have a major criminal enterprise at the very top of the government, and it's making me extremely angry that the media is still trying to smear the dems. I'm about at the tipping point. There needs to be a revolution. Congress is too slow, and there are some folks who have been using

OUR TAX DOLLARS

to support the republican party AND THE MEDIA SMEARS AGAINST DEMS. This has gone too far, and some folks need to be hung in the town square. NOW!!!

25. Yeah, well ya know...The DCCC...

The DCCC doesn't even have Feeney on that page you point to. Notice that?

I've been reporting about how corrupt this guy is for years, told the DCCC (through many different channels) to pay attention, pointed out that Clint Curtis was in a dead heat w/ him according to Zogby prior to the election, and the DCCC didn't give one thin dime to Curtis' campaign.

Now the guy may be heading towards indictiment, jail, who knows (Feeney, not Curtis) and Curtis says he has "hard evidence" showing that he most likely actually won the election. (New story now here: http://www.bradblog.com/?p=4460) and the Dems in Congress are ignoring his federal contest to the election.

'Splain all that please. Thanks.

31. I can't explain it.
Edited on Thu Apr-26-07 08:55 AM by Lasher
Yes, I noticed that Feeney was not included in the graphic. It looks like he had managed to stay mostly below the radar, and this does not apply to the DCCC alone. He is not mentioned in this extensive DU list of scandals, or in this one from TPM Muckraker's reference section. Note that he is mentioned on the Muckraker page to which I linked but this these are 'latest news' type entries that surround the actual list that was published some time ago. This Salon Scandal Sheet goes on for five pages without mentioning his name.

The DCCC graphic has evolved quite a bit over time and I'm sure Feeney will be immortalized in the next update. If the Brad Blog has a list of scandals similar to the ones I have shared, I would be grateful if you would point me to it.
