Senator Ben Nelson’s (D-Neb) Communications Director, Jake Thompson, told me that Senator Ben Nelson is “pleased with last night’s results.” Thompson said he “never asked to be the 60th Democrat.” Nelson will no longer feel the intense pressure of party loyalty to be the 60th Democratic vote.

13. the only problem with that is that the D party wont let us! here in LA we have

a spectacular candidate, Marcy Winograd running against Jane Harman. The Dem machine is out in full force for Harman, and I od mean out in full force. Even Lynn Woolsey, from the progressive caucus ENDORSED JANE HARMAN. Woolsey said she endorsed Harman for the health care bill. Think about that. A popular (great man) city council man endorsed Jane Harman, because "if he doesn't he won't be able to move forward with his plans to keep the LA Airport in check". In other words, quid pro quo. If you don't endorse the blue dog, you are dead meat. These are progressives I'm talking about here. Lynn Woolsey headlined Harman's fundraiser last week, flying in to LA to campaign for Jane Harman against the progressive candidate!!!!!
