We need to elect Democrats with a real spine.
I would do anything to swap places with Harry Reid right now. Obama is so conciliatory I could run the fucking country from right inside the Senate.

It is absolutely ridiculous. If I were Harry Reid, the next time I went in front of a microphone and I was asked about what Democrats are going to do now that we only have 59 votes, I'd laugh.

Reporter: "Leader Reid, now that Democrats only have 59 votes, what are you going to do now that your entire agenda is stopped?"
Reid: "{Laughter.}"
Reporter: "Senator?"
Reid: "We have the largest majority in the Senate in recent memory, perhaps ever in all of American history."
Reporter: "Yes, but won't the Republican's just filibuster everything you put forward?"
Reid: "Yes."
Reporter: "Won't this stop you?"
Reid: "{More Laughter.} No. They are fully within their right to filibuster, it's in the Senate rules."
Reporter: "I don't understand, what will you do?"
Reid: "I will let them filibuster, of course. Then I will sit in my office with a nice glass of wine. I will let them bring the government to a screeching halt. I will allow the Republican's to filibuster for as long as required."
Reporter: "Required for what?"
Reid: "Until they either give in or I have enough Democrats - I only need 51 - to invoke the Nuclear Option. You see, they cannot win, and once I have invoked the Nuclear Option, only requiring a majority of Democrats to support my agenda, I no longer require the likes of Joe Lieberman. I would encourage Joe to remember that should he decide to join the Republican's in their filibuster."
Reporter: "But you will destroy the Senate!"
Reid: "No, the Republican's will destroy the Senate by their abuse of the filibuster rule. I will merely be dealing with yet another problem that the Republican party has created."
Reporter: "But when Democrats are in the minority they will..."
Reid: "We are not in the minority, but if we allow the Republican's to control the agenda we will be - if Republican's force my hand, I will do what is necessary to press forward. The people gave us these majorities in Congress because they wanted change, and I intend to bring that change using all the options available to me."

It'll never happen, Reid is too much of a coward, but I can dream of what it would be like to have a Democrat with a real spine.

so they certainly can't take the time to stand up to Republicans.

That would be too, well you know....too novel!

5. you're absolutely right -- we should've been in the streets long ago.
And I don't mean walking precincts for Yet Another Campaign, either...

7. If Dean had stayed in we would be well on the way
The Democrats in power don't want STRONG DEMOCRATS, they want weak ones they can control. And get them to go along with their stupid views.
