The Official Tillman/Lynch stories compared with the truth

<snip>WHAT'S THE STORY?

PAT TILLMAN

Official story: Killed in 2004 in Afghanistan by enemy gunfire while trying to help ambushed soldiers. Awarded a Silver Star.

Updated story: Mistakenly shot by Army Rangers who had just emerged from a canyon where they'd been fired upon. Medal was based on fabricated accounts.

JESSICA LYNCH

Official story: Ambushed in Iraq in 2003, she was captured. Injured, she was rescued from a hospital in a nighttime raid. A Special Forces team fought into and out of the hospital.

Updated story: She said the heroism during her ambush should be credited to others. Also, hospital workers wanted U.S. forces to find her, moving her bed within sight of a U.S. soldier on a nearby rooftop, her authorized biography said. As far as Special Forces fighting in, "I don't think it happened quite like that," she has said.

2. Don't forget that they postponed this pseudo-rescue 24 hours so that the camera team
could be put in place. Oh, Hollywood in Iraq is such a hassle. I guess that extra day of excruciating pain Private Lynch experience was DEEMED acceptable (to the Military Public Affairs personnel) for such an excellent "Heroine Story?"
