4. +1... but I'm not sure they're trolls
I gave you a rec, but I wonder whether the unrecs are just people who disagree with the "push the reconciliation" option.

It's going to be awfully difficult to spot the trolls for awhile (apart from the obvious "we're doomed! posts on their second comment on DU).

7. I guess calling people trolls and other names is not allowed.

2. I highly doubt there will be reconciliation. It means starting HCR all over again.
Obama wants to move on to deal with jobs. I'm sure he never thought this would be dragged on until January 2010.

8. Not if the House passes the Senate bill as-is first...
...then introduces a second bill, dealing entirely in budgetary matters that can go through reconciliation, amending the Senate-bill-now-become-law. That would include a public option, an upper-income tax replacing the excise tax, improved subsidies for lower-income Americans, and so on. But you have to "ping-pong" the Senate bill through the House first...otherwise, you really do have to start all over again, and need 60 Senate votes for cloture once more.

3. Do you really think it will do any good? Supposedly in June polls indicated that the majority of
people wanted a public option

The Senate, for whatever reason or circumstances got rid of that, along with any kind of Medicare option

You have Senators such a Barney Frank saying it would be bad to do reconcilliation

They could actually do a budget reconcilliation and add Medicare for all, but that won't happen either

If the past performance is any indication of the future, nothing will happen, and unfortunately I would say HCR is over for a long time to come
