The only place the DNC and the dems are going to run
Edited on Tue Jan-19-10 10:14 PM by Confusious
Is further to the right.

All the people here who say "You can't ignore your base", well, you can always count on the right wing freaks getting out to vote, that's why they get attention. Someone does something we don't want, we don't vote. A politician is suppose to count on a base that doesn't vote?

Votes are his lifeblood, and if the lifeblood is rightwing, that's where he's going to move.

Soooo, my prediction is: The congress, the senators, the president all go DLC. except a couple, you know who I'm talking about.

Horray for your "ethics" and "standards" and "you showing them". You just showed you can't be counted on.

WEEEEEEEEE!

Not much has changed since Will Rogers, has it?

1. I am tired, and I'm young still.
I am of the few who goes to support the Democratic party in every election.
I am tired of Rethugs coming out in force and being alone at the voting booth.
Enough is enough.

There was a major difference between Gore and Bush.
There is a major difference between Coakley and Brown.
Stupid liberals indeed!
:argh  :grrr:

4. Liberals have been told we're not needed and are irrelevant
if that's the case, don't blame liberals for Coakley running a bad campaign.

You can't have it both ways.

Oh, BTW, at least in Minnesota, it's been the liberals that show up for every election and work for DFL candidates we really don't always like. We're the ones who do the campaign work and keep the local party units going between caucuses - but now we're being told we're not needed, so why should we keep showing up?

5. Well, if you can't be counted on
Edited on Tue Jan-19-10 10:24 PM by Confusious
Aren't you irrelevant?

If you show up, if you vote, so that the republicans have to fight HARD EVERY TIME, if you go after the people who fund the DNC, and tell them this is what we want, give it to us or no funds, then I think things would change.

Besides, you're a big enough person to take a little insult, right?

6. NO the insult is to us. I have been out there
EVERYTIME since 1980 voting for what ever progressive dem, if not progressive at least for the least evil dem. Even the 2008 vote for Pres O.
I think that I have been there and been able to have been counted on.
So fuck the dems...I won't be there next time I ll just by ammo for the rpigs that show up on my step to harass me for being a fag, which I have had to do when they tried to burn a cross on my yard in 1984..

13. You know, I'm no idealist

I don't think I'm going to get everything I want.

Don't vote ----------> you get nothing at ALL

vote-----------------> You might get what you want.

I never, ever count on things going the way I want, because they almost never do.

But I never give up hope that someday, if I pound enough, things might be better for someone else.

7. I've been showing up since 1972
I've held party positions at both the state and local level and worked on countless campaigns - more often than not for a candidate I was not especially excited about. I'm fed up. Selling us out to the insurance companies was the last straw for me and, sadly, I know several other long time activists who feel the same. We'll all caucus and stay involved this year because we have a governor's race to deal with here but 2012 is looking iffy for us if we don't see some progressive moves by the administration and Congress.

There are a lot of this on this board who have told the DNC, DSCC, DCCC and our state parties that they'll get no more money from us. But, the fact is, they won't listen to us until we can write checks as large as the ones they get from their corporate masters.

9. Corporate master is true too

Which would bring me into a long spiel about how our system is rigged from the start, with a person only representing 51% of the people in a district most of the time, and how a parliamentary system would be better, but no one has the balls to even touch it because the constitution is a sacred document.

The beginning needs to be reworked, keep the bill of rights.

We're driving the same car from 1929. Everything needs a little maintenance.

Op, there I went again.

But sadly, this is what we're going to get unless the system is changed. The right wing doesn't care, because this lame system favors them.

Ok, I'll lay off.

But, your point is taken.

8. If we were irrelevant, you obviously wouldn't be complaining. It's our CONCERNS that you feel are
irrelevant. Our votes, you need. Centrists don't give a shit about REPRESENTING OUR INTERESTS, only enforcing our vote to maintain your power. If you want to win elections, stop pandering to right-wing independents and undecideds and shore up your base by having REAL POSITIONS and actually appealing to the working class.

10. why the "you", "your"
Edited on Tue Jan-19-10 10:47 PM by Confusious
I would not, by anyone I know, be considered a centrist.

I'm just pointing out an observation about some people around here. I you want people to pay attention, you have one of two options in our SYSTEM.

Don't vote ----> they go right. The right wing wins.

Vote -----------> They might/might not pay attention.

Now another way of going about it, while voting might be ------>

Only give money through liberal PACs -----> I think attention might be paid.

If you don't like the observation, then by all means ignore me. I always thought self-reflection was a good thing.

Maybe other people don't like it so much.
