10 Things about Sen Reid I never knew and find interesting
Edited on Sat Jan-16-10 11:50 PM by rpannier
1. He does Yoga 2x a week
2. He was born out of wedlock
3. He's a Dead-head (Like me)
4. He has a Grateful Dead poster signed by the Band members
5. His tenure on the Nevada Gaming Commission included a death threat that was used in Scorsese's Casino
6. His father was an alcoholic who killed himself
7. His wife was Jewish
8. He never apologized for calling Bush a liar
9. He called Greenspan a political hack
10. He did apologize for calling Bush a loser - because he feels he never should have said it in front of children, not because he said it

Nothing Earth shattering I know.
I just found these little tid-bits interesting

on edit I forgot this

1. I read he grew up swimming in the pool of a whore house.
The guy had a tough childhood and he worked hard to get where he is.

5. Nevada whore houses are real, serious businesses,
unlike those in the rest of the country, where they're thought of as sleazy.

9. Yes, but it wasn't as though he was swimming at the pool at The Sands.
Back in the day, there were red light districts. Brothels weren't in the middle of idyllic Leave It To Beaver Neighborhoods.

There was still sleaze (white slavery, for example) that makes me think it wasn't the healthiest environment in which to raise kids.

I was surprised to hear he was once an amateur boxer
I just doesn't strike me as the type that would have even been one.

3. They are interesting.
Suggest somethings about his character.

Whose wife 'was' Jewish, Senator or his father? and why 'was?' Deceased, divorced?

Edited on Sat Jan-16-10 11:59 PM by rpannier
I got the impression from the article that he converted to the LDS Church as well

The Menzuza on the rigt side of the doorway...reminder that Landra was Jewish before the converted... (Page 3)

7. Interesting .....doesn't sound like a man that would have "negro"
in his vocabulary. I can't understand that.

13. I read this a while back
and check Wikipedia to get the details:

Jack Gordon also tried to bribe Reid. Reid allowed the FBI to tape Gordon's attempt to bribe him with $12,000. Reid lost his temper and attempted to choke Gordon, "You son of a bitch, you tried to bribe me!", and was pulled off by FBI agents. Gordon was convicted in United States district court in 1979 and sentence to six months in prison.<4> In 1981, Reid's wife once found a bomb attached to one of their cars, a bomb Reid suspects was placed by Gordon.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Harry_Reid

When I read that, I had a new found respect for the man.
