Delay: Reid, Pelosi - very close to treason
Edited on Tue Apr-24-07 10:30 PM by The Count

In an interview with the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review editorial board yesterday, former Rep. Tom DeLay (R-TX) accused Senate Majoirty Leader Harry Reid (D-NV) and House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) of “getting very, very close to treason” by opposing the war in Iraq. When a member of the editorial board noted that treason is a “pretty serious charge,” DeLay shot back, “And I’m serious about it.” He added that he had looked up the definition on his way to the interview (probably a good idea), and it meant “the betrayal of trust.” Watch it:

4. Treason
Edited on Tue Apr-24-07 10:15 PM by BattyDem
From Dictionary.com

treason
–noun
1. the offense of acting to overthrow one's government or to harm or kill its sovereign.
2. a violation of allegiance to one's sovereign or to one's state.
3. the betrayal of a trust or confidence; breach of faith; treachery.

So nice of Tom to overlook the first two definitions - which do NOT describe Reid and Pelosi - and only acknowledge number three. :eyes: But hey ... that's fine because they don't fit number three either. They are doing their constitutional duty of oversight, which is what they were elected to do.

Hey Tom ... just because you and your GOP cronies chose to ignore your constitutional duties and put your party above your country, that doesn't mean Reid and Pelosi are guilty of treason. They aren't the ones who betrayed the trust of the people they were elected to serve ... you are.

12. One would think that a former elected US congress critter would
know that treason is the only crime defined in the Constitution and his definition is not the proper definition.

Article III
Section 3. Treason against the United States, shall consist only in levying war against them, or in adhering to their enemies, giving them aid and comfort. No person shall be convicted of treason unless on the testimony of two witnesses to the same overt act, or on confession in open court.

9. If DeLay had any brains he'd keep his big stupid mouth shut.
Fortunately, he doesn't have any brains. Just how does he think this is going to help the Republicans?
