1. And the reason GM is toast
the greedy bastards have brought about their own demise and have not yet figured it out; Toyota is #1 and why? because they chose to pioneer in hybrids

GM deserves it, screw them into the ground; Everyone should see "Who killed the electric Car", unfrickenbelievable!!

Proud Owner of a Prius!!!

2. Yeah, I saw that yesterday...
I did some more clicking around for EVs and came to an environmental website that streams the DOC. the petition is for bringing back the EV after it was sent to its death.

4. US automakers plotted to squeeze every last dollar out of their SUV ...
Edited on Tue Apr-24-07 08:37 PM by krkaufman
... and big truck markets, and -- I'm sure -- figured they would just seek a government bailout if their strategy failed, knowing that we can't afford to lose all our auto manf. jobs.

So... when the govt prepares to throw billions at the automakers, we need to demand accountability from the automakers, including capped profits, change of management, etc.

p.s. Also a Prius owner. And I just wish Toyota supported an after-market modification to convert my Prius hybrid into a plug-in hybrid. (Grrrr...)

p.p.s. Finally, I was a GM subsidiary worker during the development of the EV1, and wanted to get one... but they were NEVER OFFERED in GM's typically most supportive market, Michigan, where I lived at the time. Don't buy the lies. GM never wanted the EV1 to succeed.

3. Yes I would love to have an EV.
My neighbor has a Geo something that he converted to an electric drive a few years ago and he drives it all the time. he has a separate meter in his shop that was originally installed when he put up a wind turbine back in the President Carter days that he no longer uses but he still has the meter and its hooked up now so he has only his charger on it so he can keep track of how much electric he uses to charge the batteries, it costs him around 85 cents to drive about 50 miles. Which is more than enough miles per day for me and my wife 99 percent of the time.

He had to have the separate meter because GRDA wouldn't let him run his meter backwards when he was generating more electric than he was using, electric cost 7.8 cents a kw here but they were only paying him something like 2.4 cents a kw. That pretty much made his turbine project only a hobby type deal, didn't help him a whole lot on his electric bill. He paid all he used at 7.8 a kw while what he made he sold it back to them for 2.4 or so, a rip off to say the least but thats all they would do. And yeah he's still pissed about it all

sorry about the long windedness

5. That should be one of the top priorities of our Federal and State govts...
... requiring utilities to support electric buyback at market (or near-market) prices. Enabling (requiring) this capability would spur investment by homeowners (and even businesses) to develop and implement distributed electricity generation.

I'd love to hear more of/from your friend, regarding his knowledge on electric buyback.

7. Tesla and the EV-1 share some heritage
AC Propulsion of San Dimas, Ca. is the true untold story behind the emergence of many popular production EV's nowadays. Alan Cocconi, the founder, designed and built the controller used in the original GM Impact which would later become the GM EV1. An AC Propulsion drive unit also powers the Tesla, the Venturi Fétish, and the L3 Enigma.

9. Its a great EV...
..But its so far out of a realistic price range for the majority. 100,000 that I do not have, the EV1 was sold at an affordable price..

Its sad to see companies like Tesla whom act as though this Electric Auto Technology is something new, when its not. There is no reason at all for big auto not to offer EV class autos, they can keep all their current syle lines and just put in an Electric Engine.

Combustible Autos should be, by now, on their way to the grave.

I would go as far as to say that Big Auto, Big Oil & Bush have commited crimes againts humanity by buring an auto that would have kept us from the shit we are in now.

According to Chompsky, he thinks that even if the US was getting its energy primarily from Solar power, Bush still would have invaded Iraq. Because its is about resources, its about coltrolling those resources. Who does control them, controls the price and profits as well as the region. Its all about Dominionism.
