Poll question: What exactly is the Mass Senate race supposed to be a referendum ON?
I keep hearing that repeated and that it's supposed to be a bellweather.

1. It's just another poorly run campaign
Plus: a special election electorate that is hard to predict.
A more conservative electorate than anybody who hasn't worked in Massachusetts Democratic politics understands. Don't discount a certain amount of latent sexism here: the dashing Mitt Romney beat the pants off the bland Democratic favorite Shannon O'Brien, too.
An electorate that has given up and is not coming to the polls, because they don't see the point.
