GOP Candidate Chuck DeVore's Spokesman: World Community Should Leave Haiti ASAP
<snip> The politics seem logical -- the impoverished country has endured plenty of socioeconomic chaos in addition to natural disasters in recent history. And now, more than ever, there is a moral and geopolitical imperative for the U.S. to be involved. But rallying domestic support for a long-term U.S. commitment to Haitian affairs has long proved difficult. And here is another example why:

The communications director for California Republican Senate candidate Chuck DeVore tweeted on Thursday that America, the world and even charity organizations should immediately leave the island once immediate and limited recovery is done.

"he best thing the int'l community can do is tend the wounded, bury the dead, and then LEAVE. That includes all UN and charity," wrote Josh Trevino.<snip>

So, this guy's a real ass. Is there anyone, really, here that can watch the footage coming out of Haiti and be okay with a candidate who says this?

5. Could it be that DeVore has caught the buzz about the US rebuilding
Haiti. Rebuilding a country is much diffeent than coming
to rescue them in a horrible disaster.

With all the problems we have, 2 wars, humongous unemployment
the Controversial HCR Bill (many saying it costs too much),
a lot of Americans might might be hesitant in our taking on
rebuilding Haiti. I cannot imagine many Americans would object
to humanitarian relief.

At least 3 different news shows(if one was listening carefully)

if not directly, but indirectly implied we would be "rebuilding

8. and with all our problems, they have it 1000 times worse than we do --we must help
or we forfeit any moral reason to have more than them and are daring God or whatever higher power there is to take it away from us right away.

we don't get stuff in order to keep it.

the same motivation that says we should take care of our own is why we are in Haiti. they are our own!!! just because they aren't in Ohio doesn't mean they aren't our own.
