National Guard activated in North Texas (weather related)
Here we go again....severe storms, "bow echos" on the radar, 70 mph winds, golf ball size hail. Channel 8 just said that a Nat'l Guard unit has been activated, they're leaving them in Terrell right now til they find out if/where they may be needed over the next 4-5 hrs.

1. We had 5 tornado's in our county yesterday.
1 went across my east pasture and blew some tanks over, power lines down and started a brush fire. Then it rained about 2 inch's with golf-ball size hail. I was lucky, all my cows were in the west pasture.

2. Good luck. I saw a chart at a hearing that showed
NO STATES are prepared for National Guard emergencies. No troops. No equipment. How sad is that?

11. Here in Plano (way North Dallas) Not So bad.
We got high wind gusts and drenching rain, some lightning and thunder, that's about all. no hail no tornadoes

South of fort worth did see a couple tornados though I think.

Some flooding. Just a typical spring Texas storm! :)

13. I wish I lived in Austin.
it's a bit boring here in Dallas. Austin is far prettier too, a bit more "normal" to me in terms of people and culture.

:)

16. From the DMN weather blog--flights cancelled, power outages

http://fromthescene2.beloblog.com/

Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport spokesman Ken Capps has told radio station KRLD-AM that 119 flights have been cancelled and other flights are experiencing one to three hour delays. A handful of flights have been diverted to other airports.

Power outages
KRLD-AM is reporting that 15,000 homes and businesses are without power in Tarrant County and 2,300 are in the dark in Dallas County.

At 3 pm today:

A tornado has touched down outside Celina, according to a fire official there. The twister is believed to be on FM 423 in Denton County, west of the Collin County city.
"It hasn't hit the inner part of the city," said Stephen Hathcoat, a Celina firefighter. "They haven't located it yet, but they do know it's there." Mr. Hathcoat said authorities are out in a storm-spotting vehicle attempting to pinpoint its location. Tornado sirens hadn't sounded in Celina by 2:45 p.m.
"They're going to make sure it's either still on the ground or gone back in the clouds," he said.
