I hate my Health Insurance Company
And its got nothing to with coverage. My issue is all about customer service and just how bad they are at their job. I have Amerihealth in New Jersey. This was my first time having my own healthcare not covered on my parents plan. I'm unemployed, just out of college, but need to have my own health care. I wasnt getting any bills from them like I was supposed to, but I thought maybe it will come soon. I originally thought I was supposed to be billed online and have it originally taken out of my bank account, so I just waited. Finally, in December, 4 months after never receiving a bill, I gave them a call. They said I had never signed up for the automatic billing. So I then asked them why It's been four months without me receiving a bill. They have no fucking idea. Ive accumulated a lot to have to pay to them now. I told them I wanted them to send me a bill so I could see all the charges and for January on, take the money out of my account automatically. 2 week passed, and they still hadnt sent me a bill. I call back and tell them what's going on. They dont know, but the woman in customer service threatens to cancel my health insurance if I dont send the money in time. She didnt seem to care that its been her fault. So, I call two days later, just get the address and send the money in. 2 more weeks have passed. I still havent gotten the bill and now the money I paid for the first four months still hasnt come up online through my bank yet.

Now I'mm on hold for thirty minutes.

:-(

1. I really don't much like ANY insurance company
personally, I think the insurance "product" should be outlawed as the complete and total scam that it is.

2. Yeah you know they got you by the throat when it is a hassle to PAY THEM.
Had the same problem with the Edison monopoly.

3. That happened to my daughter ... but worse
It was her first real job out of college, and she liked it pretty much and was doing well ... but they started laying people off, and her job got cut in the second or third round of layoffs (they soon after closed the whole office). So anyway, she signed up for COBRA, and we told her not to worry, we'd help her pay the premiums. So she paid the first one, and then six weeks goes by and she calls us long distance to ask our advice, because she says she hasn't gotten the bill. We said, that's odd, maybe you should call them. She did, and they told her they didn't send out bills, it was her responsibility to pay on time, and that they had dropped her from the plan. No reinstatement. Holy crap that was bad, because she had a pre-existing condition, and we really couldn't get her any real insurance. She had to wait until she got another job, and that took quite a while.

5. Their version of competition is being able to enroll in another shit plan
one week a year. They don't have to have good customer service, or provide any service besides taking your money and figuring out how to not give you care.
