What are you doing for the 2010 election?
As with previous weeks, post what you are doing here so people know how to get involved!

If you posted in one of these threads before, go ahead, do it again!

And you know if you post links, people are more likely to go ahead and click!

And the haters...thanks for the kick!

1. Starting in the summertime when I'll have more time
Edited on Mon Jan-11-10 12:54 AM by Telly Savalas
I plan to get involved in Robin Carnahan's campaign for the Senate seat in Missouri.

Cleaver's House seat will be safe, and at the state level my district is blue enough that the GOP didn't even put anybody up against my state representative last time around.

On edit: where I intend to really get involved the next couple of years is the local level. Kansas City's municipal government is a fucking trainwreck and we need some new people in city hall to fix things.

2. Donating small sums of money to Better Democrats
As Kos said, in 2010 we are working on "better" Democrats, whereas in 2006 and 2008, we were working for "more" Democrats.

4. You won't get an Eeyore out of me!
I'm going to find a district race close to mine and give money and phone bank and canvas and shit. I'll wait till springtime though.

My Rep, I'll give a bit of cash to, but Barbara Lee has nothing to worry about, so I can concentrate elsewhere.

9. Alaska: Vote against Don Young again (as I have for 26 years)
I'll be following the national situation and targeting donations to get Progressives elected.

If Michael Moore follows through with his commitment to target Democrats who chose sides poorly, I'll probably assist in that effort.

I'll try to get outside of Alaska in March for anti-war protests in DC.

12. UK General election this year
I'd like to attend a debate between the local candidates to see what I'm actually going to be voting for. My personal circumstances have changed recently so I need to swot up on the local politics where I am.

I'm not a party political activist, which is just as well given the state of UK poltics

15. We have an election here too. I will be voting for the opposition to the Tories ...
in my case, our Lib Dem MP Evan Harris. I will be encouraging every non-Tory that I know to VOTE (however bad the current situation, we can NOT afford a Tory government!) I have also joined the following organization, which is good both for discussing issues, and for letting people know about campaigns, petitions, events, etc.

http://www.38degrees.org.uk

Probably not that relevant to most of you, but I'm afraid I always click on threads with '2010 election' because I automatically think of our general election. At any rate, the existence of this organization might be of interest to you as I expect you have similar ones.
