Netcraft Shows RNC Running Ohio Election Servers
Edited on Tue Apr-24-07 01:21 PM by LoZoccolo
"Netcraft is showing that an event happened in the Ohio 2004 election that is difficult to explain. The Secretary of State's website, which handles election reporting, normally is directed to an Ohio-based IP address hosted by the Ohio Supercomputer Center. On Nov. 3 2004, Netcraft shows the website pointing out of state to a server owned by Smartech Corp. According to the American Registry on Internet Numbers, Smartech's block of IP addresses 64.203.96.0 – 64.203.111.255 encompasses the entire range of addresses owned by the Republican National Committee. Smartech hosted the recently notorious gbw43.com domain used from the White House in apparent violation of the Presidential Records Act, from which thousands of White House emails vanished. Can anyone suggest a good explanations for this seemingly dubious election-eve transfer?"

Slashdot is a blog, so you'll find more links at the site to follow. It is dedicated more to technological issues than political ones.

Some of you might remember that I've actually been very skeptical of the idea that Ohio was tampered with in a manner widespread and effective enough to swing the state, but I found this piece interesting.

Nothing we find out now surprises me one bit. Unbelievable the lengths these pricks have gone to in securing their power.

5. WRONG. FALSE. This is a blatant lie and needs to be corrected.
What the H**L are people thinking. Get the facts first. WHO is promulgating this CRAP?

SEE this thread for some FACTS:

GET REAL: Steven Rosenfeld and Bob Fitrakis as "coincidence theorists"
http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=103x259620#277154

....... This is just beyond ridiculous. Only those with no critical reasoning will not see the lie in this statement.

Laws of the State of Ohio created the system, the People of Ohio own it, and Boards of Election operated it. GET REAL!!

7. Netcraft, Smartech, RNC...do any of these co's have ties to Ptech ?
Ptech

Check notable clientele. White House, DOJ, FAA, Air Force... I wouldn't put it past them. The company is now re-named GoAgile, BTW.

15. Right. Time zone difference could explain divergence.
Thanks, bananas.

Netcraft is in Bath, England, five hours behind East Coast time.

So if "Nov. 3" means, say, 12:15 AM GMT, Nov. 3, then that could be 7:15 PM EST on Nov. 2, which is just right for adjusting vote totals.

But that's a big IF. We have no time on the Netcraft read-out.

12. RNC had half a class C network; OH wasn't in that block
Edited on Tue Apr-24-07 02:10 PM by dmesg
Ohio: 64.203.98.137
RNC: 64.203.98.0 - 64.203.98.127

SmartTech is a hosting company. They provide virtualized servers to host websites (and other services) on. The OH SoS was a Republican and had probably dealt with SmartTech before. So when he needed a hosting company for election.sos.state.oh.us he went with them.

This is like saying "The Ohio Secretary of State used the same catering company on election night as the RNC"
