Andrew Breitbart gets humiliated by the White House
Recently, Andrew Breitbart Twittered a $1,000 bet challenging Media Matters and senior fellow Eric Boehlert for proof that Bertha E. Lewis -- whose name recently appeared on a White House guest list -- was not ACORN CEO Bertha Lewis. Breitbart's challenge followed his begrudging semi-correction acknowledging that a White House official reportedly told Politico's Ben Smith that it was, in fact, a different Bertha Lewis.

The basis of Breitbart's steadfast defense of his thoroughly debunked "scoop" appears to be that, but for the word of the White House, there is no evidence to suggest it was not the Bertha Lewis visiting the White House. (As Media Matters' Matt Gertz noted, more than 1,000 individuals with that name appear in a whitepages.com search, and to reiterate, it strains the imagination to see why it would be troubling for the CEO of ACORN to meet with White House officials.)

What Breitbart ignores in his embarrassing effort to salvage the story is -- as Ben Smith explained in initially debunking Breitbart's breaking news -- the women do not, in fact, share the same name:

One clue: The ACORN official's middle initial, according to her New York voter registration record on Nexis, is "M." An ACORN spokesman says her middle name is "Mae."

The women didn't even have the same full name. Dude, it's called RESEARCH, and it's not just for liberals and scientists, you might want to actually try it sometime.

2. It's not about being right, it's about slinging the shit and seeing what sticks to the wall...
then forcing the Obama WH to deal with the uproar.

The watchers/listeners of these programs never remember the correction (if they ever hear one), just the accusation.

3. That is sad, but I believe you are right.
It's part of how the right-wing noise machine works: Keep the left wing busy correcting your accusatory-but-false shit. That way you take them off other work and also fill the media with your false shit to the point where the false shit is all anyone remembers in the end.

4. Breibart Is An Attention Whore...
This is the shitstain behind the ACORN "exposee" videos that made a big splash on Faux Noise but we've since learned were staged and probably violated laws. But the initial story got a big reaction...got Breibart on the teevee and the corporate media gladly astroturfed his lies that cost ACORN their federal support. There's no facts here, none needed. It's the game of making up shit and knowing that a rumor runs around the world while the truth is putting on its pants. Our lazy corporate media plays along as well...gladly playing the conduit for this scumbag's lies without ever holding him responsible for past lies or fact checking his current one.

5. Everybody know BREITBART is son-in-law to Orson BEAN,
the erstwhile "wit" and supposedly Eastern elitist? BEAN has apparently morphed into a sour, dour California wingnut, proud of his sonny-in-law.

And BREITBART was Matt PUDGE's right hand (ewwww) for the PUDGE "Report," and then did something for Ariana when the Huffington Post was being developed.

He's one of those yucky things under rocks.

7. Not nearly as humiliating for him as
actually being Andrew Breitbart must be.

8. Breitbart as Brer Rabbit

Andrew Breitbart has gotten himself in quite a sticky situation over a name on a list, and what he's read into it. So is it mere coincidence that, among the 132 words one can ferret out of Breitbart's name, we find the following?

Brer, Rabbit, Tar, Babe

To quote Breitbart: what are the odds?
