Need video from Iraq, Afghanistan & East Africa for grant application/video project on refugees

I am applying for a federal grant to document stories of refugees in our region. San Diego's East County is the world's largest center for relocation of Iraq War refugees, including Iraqi Chaldeans. Some experts predict there will soon be no Chaldeans left in Iraq; these are the Babylonians from Mesopotamia. Our region also has many refugees and asylees from east Africa - Sudan, Somalia, etc., as well as Burma and other areas. This is a story of epic proportions waiting to be told. We want to tell their compelling personal narratives on video as well as document the challenges they face in assimilating here.

I have a top-notch team working furiously with me to pull together our grant application in just one week. We need some file footage to include in our video sample. I have interviews with local refugees, but could use some footage of the areas they once called home - both before and after the regions became ravaged by war, as well as wartime footage. I don't have money to pay for this for the grant application, but could provide a stipend for usage if our grant funds. It's a large grant and we're also trying for matching funds from other donors.

If you can help, email me at editor@eastcountymagazine.org.

1. Ask the guy at the liqour store
And no I am not trying to be funny.

Over the last few years I have identified a number of Chaldeans who work at liquor stores in the areas and have enjoyed talking with them. I have a particular personal interest in hearing from refugees.

Last week I was talking to one who said that 6 more had been killed from his relatives church's.

They absolutely believe that there will be no more Chaldeans in Iraq within a couple of years, if that long.

You should be able to get lots of first person accounts by tapping into the liqour store Chaldeans who keep in touch with each other.
