Are DUers watching KO
Did you hear Richard Wolfe?
The WH is investigating the systemic failure and whether it was deliberate???
This isn't far from my cynical view that the Nigerian was a patsy.
Nice discussion with Arianna.

1. Not merely that the ball was dropped,
but possibly that the ball was deliberately dropped. As in information deliberately withheld.

Yes, I was listening. Why am I not surprised?

6. I'm not altogether sure it was deliberate in the way they mean
but every president I can ever remember has complained about how law enforcement agencies never seem to communicate with each other, each jealously guarding the information they get so that a "competing" agency won't get the glory of making the bust.

It's a disgusting mindset that will eventually get more of us killed, but it's such a persistent one that I doubt even Obama will be able to change it.

2. Someone wants to make someone look bad. (as in Cheney, is that you?)

16. Bush left a number of appointees "burrowed" into the government
He gave them civil service jobs, which would be more difficult for President Obama to get rid of them. I would not put it past any of them to undermine President Obama in any way they can. However, as Warpy pointed out above, it could just as easily have been an inter-agency pissing match.

81. Yep, I remember hearing this also...
and if this is true (which I have no doubt that it is), our intelligence agencies have stooped to a new all time low. Putting politics above the safety of the American people should be regarded as treason. If possible, everyone appointed and/or hired by the crime family Bush Administration should be terminated. Might not be a reasonable or easy task, but I sure would try. There are a lot of people in high places who are out to sabotage this president, AND they don't care who gets caught in the cross-fire (meaning American citizens).

82. The only way the president can put a stop
to this is to go back and clean house. Then we can continue to move forward. Maybe he'll open his eyes and see these people cannot be trusted. And I know their will always be a threat out there but put a dent in some of these treasonous activities. Remember Michael Scheuer was on fox and said, America's only hope is for OBL to attack us again. These people are freaking scum and they want power again no matter what it takes.

If it turns out there was deliberate withholding of information in order to embarrass President Obama, it could do in the entire GOP. Imagine the reaction of the right wing bed-wetters if they find out that the people who claim to be the best at "keeping us safe" were deliberately making them and the rest of us unsafe for political purposes. We'll be up to our eyeballs in exploded heads.

Is that Richard Wolffe wrote the first book about the Obama campaign, was given very broad access within the campaign (and by Obama himself) and took part in some of the election day basketball games. In other words, the guy has sources like gold. If the White House wanted to get some collars hot around DC Wolffe would be the logical person to leak it to.

Following up on a visit from FBI officials about an eyewitness account first described to MLive.com, Michigan attorney Kurt Haskell described the visit in comment sections across MLive on Wednesday.

Haskell and his wife, Lori, were aboard Flight 253 when Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab allegedly tried to destroy the plane. They say another man tried to help Abdulmutallab board the plane in Amsterdam.

Haskell had two detailed posts in two different stories. Here is Part One, originally posted here (Nothing below in the indent has been changed. Only links have been added.):

Today is the second worst day of my life after 12-25-09. Today is the day that I realized that my own country is lying to me and all of my fellow Americans. Let me explain.
Ever since I got off of Flight 253 I have been repeating what I saw in US Customs. Specifically, 1 hour after we left the plane, bomb sniffing dogs arrived. Up to this point, all of the passengers on Flight 253 stood in a small area in an evacuated luggage claim area of an airport terminal. During this time period, all of the passengers had their carry on bags with them. When the bomb sniffing dogs arrived, 1 dog found something in a carry on bag of a 30 ish Indian man. This is not the so called "Sharp Dressed" man. I will refer to this man as "The man in orange". The man in orange, who stood some 20ft away from me the entire time until he was taken away, was immediately taken away to be searched and interrogated in a nearby room. At this time he was not handcuffed. When he emerged from the room, he was then handcuffed and taken away. At this time an FBI agent came up to the rest of the passengers and said the following (approximate quote) "You all are being moved to another area because this area is not safe. I am sure many of you saw what just happened (Referring to the man in orange) and are smart enough to read between the lines and figure it out." We were then marched out of the baggage claim area and into a long hallway. This entire time period and until we left customs, no person that wasn't a law enforcement personnel or a passenger on our flight was allowed anywhere on our floor of the terminal (or possibly the entire terminal) The FBI was so concerned during this time, that we were not allowed to use the bathroom unless we went alone with an FBI agent, we were not allowed to eat or drink, or text or call anyone. I have been repeating this same story over the last 5 days. The FBI has, since we landed, insisted that only one man was arrested for the airliner attack (contradicting my account). However, several of my fellow passengers have come over the past few days, backed up my claim, and put pressure on FBI/Customs to tell the truth. Early today, I heard from two different reporters that a federal agency (FBI or Customs) was now admitting that another man has been held (and will be held indefinitely) since our flight landed for "immigration reasons." Notice that this man was "being held" and not "arrested", which was a cute semantic ploy by the FBI to stretch the truth and not lie.

77. If they find it was a deliberate false flag attempt
will they EXPOSE it as such?

I sure as hell hope so, for the sake of our country's future.

We cannot use bullshit to justify starting another goddamned optional war that will make just BU$HCO richer.

80. How is paying in cash a red flag
The majority of people on the planet do most of their transactions with cash.

85. paying in cash is a red flag for airlines
drug dealers do it, for starters...

the thinking apparently is that terrorists also do:

http://www.kiplinger.com/magazine/archives/2004/05/security.html

in fact....terrorists also love the "off the shelf" pay as you go, no contract cell phones.....

no way to trace the calls to any specific individual....

well now, in many parts of the world you have to show all kinds of ID to purchase one off the shelf and start it up and use its SIM card

but back to airlines: paying for your tix in cash normally flags a person
