What an absolute ass Barbara Bush is. See quote below
Asked if voters should be wary of Romney being a Mormon, the former president's wife, Barbara, said "not at all," noting there are "wild people" in many religions.

"I mean it was in 1897 that bigamy was outlawed in that church," she said. "You know we have a lot of Christian wild people too, and a lot of Jewish wild people and a lot of Muslim wild people. The Mormon religion takes care of its own, they don't have people on welfare.

this is from an article on CNN

After Katrina, she said of the refugees in the Astro Dome:
"They were all underprivileged anyway, so this is working out quite well for them"

12. Yeah that pretty much sums it up.
I was going to say something else about her, but this is more spot on, and not as...adult language oriented.

4. If the Mormon take care of their own.....
then it means they are on Mormon welfare. What a complete gasbag that woman is. Too bad they let her out of the house again. It was better when they had her locked up.

of the family. Their own taxing entity and their own form of communism.

If families don't pay the 10% to the Church, they get no help.

a few misconceptions about Mormon's and welfare
I work in the welfare office in Utah, I pretty much know first hand.

1. Mormons are told to give 10% to the church but if they don't, they do not lose help. (They do lose some privledges like going through the temple but I don't think they would deny that to people to poor to pay the 10%.

2. Mormons in Utah are on welfare BUT the church does coordinate services with the government welfare office to help provide more services to the poor.

3. The Mormon church in Utah has refused to participate in the faith based nonsense from Bush. They will provide services but they don't take government money to do it.

4. The church was very communistic in its early days.

I have some complaints about the services they provide and how but on balance they are doing more good than bad in the welfare department.

(some individual mormon congregations have done some remarkable things...now maybe it benefited some people in the church but still...like giving cars to poor families etc.)

I'm not mormon and was raised here so I"m predisposed to despise them. But on this issue I can't.

21. When I saw Mormons and Welfare I thought about the Jeffs people
and the fundamentalist Mormons. Krakauer wrote in "Under The Banner Of Heaven" that Welfare and WIC fraud was pretty widespread. I sometimes forget that the "mainstream" Mormon church are much different than the fundies.

7. I'm surprised she's been let out.
Seriously. After that Coliseum Crack, people were so outraged, they were fuming over her asinine remark.

In fact, the White House via @ Scott McClellan, said "she won't be making any more statements". I took that to mean they were going to shut her up, once and for all.

Looks like she gave 'em the slip.:smoke:

10. Someone With Sock
Someone needs to stuff a sock in her mouth. The woman is Absolute Evil. I hate all the adult Bush people and she's one of the ones I hate the very most of all. She's a loathsome miscreant. I think I hate her more than I hate her Idiot Son Chimpy. Her "beautiful mind" remark and the New Orleans remarks were some of the worse things I've ever heard a public person say. They were, by far, more offensive than what Imus said. I hate Imus and am glad he's fired. I'm just saying, the things she says...classist, racist, sexist, war-mongering, genocide-approving, morally diseased...the words that come out of that grotesque woman's mouth...1 billion times more offensive than Imus. Can we have her fired too?

*"Why should we hear about body bags and deaths and how many, what day
it's gonna happen? It's not relevant. So why should I waste my
beautiful mind on something like that?"*

14. 32% babies born on Medicaid
The national average is 37%. Ten states are lower. So not only is it so typically insulting, it isn't even true.

And I'm supposed to listen to their point of view. I don't think so.

23. I would just like to say thank you...
for calling her an "ass". So many times I have to take people to task for using the most vile gender slurs to describe people like Barbara Bush and I always point out that there are plenty of non-gendered names we can call people. It's refreshing to see someone use the non-gendered insult. So I wanted to say thank you. :)

BTW, I agree totally. She's an ass. She's a boil on the butt of humanity.

24. Wow, Mom & Pop are just shining their light all over
Edited on Tue Apr-24-07 12:17 AM by George Oilwellian
As an officer, Bush was sometimes assigned to censor the outgoing mail of enlisted men. He read letters in which men talked openly about their fears and worries, their loves and heartbreaks, about crop harvests or fishing or a hot spell back in the cities. For a while, Bush censored the mail of the ship’s black stewards. He suddenly stops talking and squints back tears.

“Golly,” he says, “I get all choked up thinking about it… ‘cold storage boys,’ they called them.” Then, with amazing candor, he says, “You know they were human beings, and I’m not sure I really knew that or appreciated it or was sensitive to it until I had to do that little experience.”
