He proved he's a loyal Bushie that won't expose the White House as being involved. Listen to W's words....doesn't matter if he's competent

1. That and corrupting the DoJ and the rule of law isn't illegal per se.
So it's not breaking any laws so what's your problem... and so on.

3. yeah, but my point was
how confounding it was that W said Gonzo's testimony gave him even more confidence in him. Confident that he will never expose the truth, I think. Much better that Gonzo look like a buffoon than expose what really happened.

7. He's taken his lumps like a "Goodfella"
That's the true test.

He'll always be a Bush goombah now.

He's in debt up to his eyeballs now.

5. probably not. who cares about the rule of law anymore anyway
We are living is surreal times. Scary, surreal times. Someday, someone is going to have to deal with the fact the globe doesn't revolve around repugs vs dems. It won't happen for the next 21 months, that's for sure. Policy based on politics.....blech

11. The proximal cause of Bush's loyalty may be the interference Gonzo...
...is running for him re: Domenici and Iglesias. But Gonzo also knows where a lot of older bodies are buried. If I remember correctly, he got Bush out of jury duty back in the '90s, based on some reason that was was specious unto absurdity. There was speculation that the jury selection process threatened to expose Bush's criminal past, as hinted at by the fact that, shortly after becoming governor, he obtained a new driver's license number, effectively disappearing the data associated with his previous number.
