1. I don't care? Sez you!
Any time spent reading about current space science puts me in a kind of trance of optimism. And we're conducting it all on a relative shoestring budget. Imagine what we could do if we didn't have a permanent warfare state to feed.

4. I check the NASA website to check on them
NASA does not get anywhere near the recognition that it should for the excellent engineering to allow devices designed for a few months to work for years past the expected lifespan.

AH, the mailfunction NR 5;).. I do rembember the movies all to well - and I loved them both.. But I dosent se to rembember the names. Do you know what the names was?..

On the other side, that the robots have been living on Mars for 6 year, FAR more than belived posible is telling us a lot of what it was build as - and the two robots have also given us a ton of new information about what Mars is.. At National Geograpich Channel it was a program about MARS and they was telling about this two amazing robots traveling the Planet.. Have to admit I was not following to mutch about it, I was kind of bussy doing other things.. But it is an amazing accomplish anyway..

And as other have pointed out, what discoveries NASA havent been given posibility to, if they have had a decent economical program, and not a program build in many cases in "sheap" mode.. If NASA had been given 1/1000 parts of what the Iraq war is given every year, NASA would have had the New Space Shuttle Program up and going in a few years time by now. Instead of a program that is in essence more than 40 year old...

8. What a stupid post
About a remarkable achievement.

I don't care huh? I don't recall you posting about the Marisat-F2 communications satellite that outlived it's 5 year projected lifespan by about 25 years. It was decommissioned just last year.

I guess you hate science. It's the only explanation.

9. I worked on the drawings for the solar panels.
The company I work for made the cells, installed them and wired them.

The MRO and the Phoenix probe, too.

Cool stuff.

13. When we do go to Mars...
... one of our priorities should be to bring that thing back and put it in a museum. Without a doubt, that machine is a tribute to mankind.

18. You are absolutely right, I don't care, not even a little bit.
Yes, it is a remarkable engineering achievement, but I still don't care and never did.

Oh, I'm sorry, I forgot that this is a cheer leading, rah-rah thread where you are not supposed to even post if you do not agree. Oh well.

19. I can believe that you don't care.
I can even believe that you would take the time to express your apathy.

But I don't believe you'd go out of your way to be sarcastic about your apathy unless you were trying to prove a point about DU.

It's not a bad point, but why'd you choose to do it here? You may not care about the rovers, but you don't have anything against them, do you?

Could it be that you're intimidated against speaking your mind in the heated political threads? Could it be that you're a coward?

22. I don't care that you don't care. Not even a little bit.
In fact, you can be like a distressingly large portion of the human race, and not give a shit about the larger universe we live in, in fact get pissy when anyone even suggests you think outside of the little cramped cardboard flat-Earth box you have constructed as your reality, and I won't care.

Not even a little bit.

20. Who doesn't care? And who says Americans can't build anything anymore?
Honestly, I think the folks at JPL should get some kind of prize for what was certainly one of the signature achievements of the decade.

Now that would have been an achievement.
