Bwahahahahaha! Even John Cornyn's TEXAS seat isn't SAFE anymore! Read this email I just received!
Dear ******,

Even in the heart of Bush country, it doesn't pay to be a Republican anymore.

A recent poll conducted by the DSCC shows only 41% of Texans reporting favorable views of their home state Republican Senator John Cornyn. Moreover, Cornyn doesn't even clear 50% in a hypothetical 2008 election matchup with a generic Democrat.

As Cornyn's popularity plummets, the Texas Democratic party is enjoying an impressive resurgence. This weekend, a DSCC fundraising event in Texas brought in an astounding $1.1 million from supporters throughout the state to help preserve and expand the Democratic Senate majority in 2008.

Republicans have 21 seats to defend in 2008, compared with only 12 for Democrats. And as Republican senators continue to blindly advocate the deeply unpopular policies of George W. Bush in Iraq and elsewhere, the John Cornyns of the world will inch ever closer to Election Day defeat in 2008.

The DSCC will be watching and waiting for every opportunity to achieve Democratic victory.

Sincerely,

J.B. Poersch
Executive Director, DSCC

Wouldn't that be SWEEEEEEEET?! NO MORE CORNYN?????!!!!! :woohoo::bounce:

44. I believe the thought is that witches float.
So if you are not a witch and you drown, well, now they know you weren't a witch.

But all of that is just a bunch of bunk made up by the Catholic Church and continued by the wingnut Protestants. They needed scapegoats to keep their flocks in line. Pagans don't believe in the devil. In Europe that was a Christian construct.

We really don't want to offend DU's witches. :)

38. Then you'd just upset all the female dogs out there....
Even that cute pup in your sig. Or his mother.

To most Texans, "Kay Bailey Hutchison" says it all. She's made a career of being the marginally less dreadful Senator From Texas--beginning back when her colleague was the loathsome Phil Gram.

However--Cornyn is up for re-election next. Glad to hear there's even a chance he's vulnerable.

2. Well he really is an AWFUL representative to the people of Texas.
He will ignore a fact, even when it's staring him straight in the eye, and preach the Republican spin instead.

He's a fossil, and it's time for him to go. I'd like to add another to the list: James Inhofe.

4. You know pre-election
I live in a red area...and NOBODY admitted to voting Republican, yet they won by pretty handy margins.
I would feel better if the voting machines were thrown out and replaced with pens and paper--and ONLY then I MIGHT believe that
Democrats would have a chance in the backwoods counties here.
Not to burst your bubble, but Perry won the governorship with only about 30% of the vote.

5. I believe it's spelled "Cornhole"
Even if he does get reelected (as seems most likely) his reelection will mean the diversion of GOP financial and political assets away from real swing states and toward their Red states.

This is what comes of a 50 state strategy and Republican leadership who can't stop lying.

She mentioned this at the CyFair Dems bash the weekend before last. She's also considering going against John Culberson, who is so far to the right that he makes Cornyn look like a liberal.

I believe that Barbara Ann can pull this one off.

13. What a RELIEF!!!
He is my senator.:puke:

I was not surprised by his performance during his questioning of Gonzoles. He did catch me off guard just a little bit, but then he decided to use the "TranSpindental" claims of a "fishing expedition", I knew then he wasn't serious about finding out the TRUTH about the Fired US Attorneys.

Also when they spout off about protecting our children from predators who are they speaking of, because as I recall NO ONE cared about the Page Scandal concerning Mark Foley. As a matter of fact they refused to intervene in this case until the "news media?" released the info. And of course that was BLAMED on ALL us Liberals.

Then there is the Texas Youth Commission. Young boys locked up with no where to escape, and being FORCED to perform sexually acts with the management. It was REPORTED to authorities and they ignored it.

Once again when they speak of protecting our children, just remember it is only LIP SERVICE, Nothing More.....

17. Everybody is sick of these corrupt shitbags, even my extremely
RW family members. I never thought I would see the day my uncle (a massive RWinger) say he hates George Bush and knows how stupid the man is and what a mistake it was to put him in office! Never!

Yet he says it a lot now, I think the GOP is about to lose it's traditional seats of power around the country. Even if the Dems are marginal at best, it will still look better than the massively scandalous Republican party. A party full of crooks that get TV time and get judged as harshly as anyone can about TV appearances.

I mean we are talking about Southern Baptists that can't STAND the Bush family! I think the Internet set them free! That, to me, speaks volumes about the future of politics in America!

Say bye bye to your base Repukes! You earned this one!

Is this true?
I went to college with Barbara Radnofsky and her brothers and they are all very nice people. I thought the 50-state strategy of Howard Dean meant they would put money into ALL statewide races. Am I wrong? Did they NOT send lots of money to Texas so Barbara Radnofsky could win?

36. She was a terrible candidate
Her staff wouldn't cooperate with anyone else in the state. They thought they were geniuses and were totally and tragically mistaken. Hopefully she won't waste her time running for senate again and will try for some seat she might conceivably win, like the Court of Criminal Appeals.

The Texas Democratic Party got a fair chunk of change from the DNC; they didn't seem to do much with it. The DSCC early on figured out that BAR was a lost cause and didn't send a dime.

vulnerable, too. That is big, very welcoming news to the Bluegrass State. The election is still a long way off and I would discount anything he would do to keep his seat so it should be fun for the next year and a half.

He is a slimy, meaner than a junk yard dog asswipe that needs to be drop kicked out of the Senate. Amoral doesn't begin to describe this guy - a toady of the first order for the politics á la KKKarl. He was a dirty politician in the GOP long before dirty was cool. He doesn't even say good morning before figuring out how he personally can benefit from it.

go to a Dem--in fact, I'm almost positive of that. The GOPers in this state are embarrassed by Hagel, and are desperate for a GOPer who obeys, toes the party line, and worships the Royal Decider. I hope Hagel keeps his seat--would hate to see him go. Better the Devil you know, than the Devil you know will be far worse.

Edited on Tue Apr-24-07 08:26 AM by Blue_Roses
even though Cornyn isn't popular, there isn't a viable Dem to run against him. They discussed Ron Kirk, who ran against him last time, but if Ron Kirk lost again, he would be labeled a "two-time loser" which is a brand on him he doesn't want or need. I would love to see Ron Kirk beat him, but it's pretty red up in this area of the state.
