Repubs forget that all the harsh treatment they would impose on others will be used on our troops
I am disgusted by their mindset that we can treat others however harshly as we would like to extract intelligence from them, and then ignore the natural consequences of such action.

They would crank up the Abu Ghraib torture, keep people locked up without charges indefinitely, etc. and then totally ignore the fact that such treatment would likely be used against our own troops.

Put them in a uniform and drop them in the ongoing fighting, and I bet they would see the issue differently.

And these are the posers that wrap themselves in the flag, and pretend to care about our troops. Sickening.

1. Au contraire: They're actually counting on it
As soon as the photos of the roasted bodies on the bridge at Fallujah hit the media, the Republicans were out in force, braying about what a bunch of savages and terrorists our enemies are. Any harsh treatment of a star-spangled, freckle-faced, all American fightin' man or woman will immediately swallow up everything we've inflicted on the rest of the world, subsumed by a reckless thirst for all-encompassing revenge on the perpetrators, real and imagined. It's how the game is played.

Oh, and they're not terribly worried that anyone they know or love is going to be the victim, so it will all be good, as they rake in the profits (and concomitant campaign contributions) from further bloating of the national security budget.

3. Yes for some - and for others they believe that our enemies are already doing this
They believe our enemies to be totally evil, and that nothing we can do will change that. A terrorist is going to terrorize regardless of our own actions, so there's no need to soften our blows.

2. This buffoon Repub that was just on with David Shuster is exhibit A...
He said we should not be worrying about treating the man who tried to blow up the plane by fetting him skin grafts, and instead we should be out trying to find the other terrorists trying to enter the country.

Well, it is clear that getting information from the hospitalized bomber wannabe would be very valuable, and torture should not be an option.

But by all means lets broadcast to the world that we will withhold treatment, and further inflame those who want to do us harm.

4. Depth of thought and connecting the dots isn't their strong suit
Blind Patriotic flag waving and macho superior military power makes them feel something where otherwise they have a lump of black coal for a heart. Well, that is when they aren't thinking about taking women's rights away and never giving the gay community rights, taking their God Given Right to get money from lobbyists and figuring out how to get some on the side while thumping their family values chest.

It's much easier to just repeat the talking points someone faxed them this morning. Saves up brain cells for when they really need them.

5. For God's sake, why would anyone think Republicans care about our soldiers?
Except maybe as a voting bloc.

Far as I can tell, the hawks actually care more about resources, equipment, and infrastructure than the human beings that use them.

6. Yeah, right, like they give a crap what happens to our troops. I think the BS wars
they have started based on known false information, their failure to conceive winnable strategies, and their constant escalation of the hatred felt toward USA pretty much tells the truth about how much they care about our troops.

8. And the 'conservative media' has yet to challenge them on that.
I don't mean FAUX News, I mean pretty much ALL of the media.
