GM is offering fire sale prices on its remaining inventory of discontinued brands like Saturn, Pontiac, Hummer and Saab. As much as a 50% discount on a brand new car is possible.

http://online.wsj.com/article/SB126205243214008389.html

From the article:

"If a dealer passes along all the new incentive to a customer, Pontiac's cheapest vehicle, the G3 compact, could go for about $8,000, or 46% off the sticker price of about $15,000."

The cars wills till carry full warranties and there is no doubt that parts and service will be available for years and years to come. But resale value will be zip-point-shit. Buy 'em cheap and rive 'em into the ground.

Of course, what this does to regular car sales isn't being discussed right now ....... shhhhhhh ..... we don't wanna tip out hand that this will lead to a month or two's rosy retail figures down the road .... followed by some pot holes.

1. Too bad they quit making the Montana a few years back. I'd buy a second one.
That's a kick-ass van. It seats eight and can blow the doors off the import go-carts with subwoofers in their trunks. I also get 26 mpg highway and seldom less than 22 mpg under any conditions. I suppose if I could milk a little more out of it if I didn't drive it like a Pontiac.
