"We are losing our freedoms and our Christian rights in America! Shut down the ACLU!"
"Christians Reviving America's ValuEs" PRESS RELEASE WASHINGTON, April 23

We are losing our freedoms and our Christian rights in America. The ACLU gets rich from your tax dollars when they win a case against Religious Freedom or the Ten Commandments. If they lose such a case the ACLU pays you nothing. They just pick up their marbles and go home. The ACLU says they are against someone searching your bags when you enter a building, but they have a scanner and search every bag coming into their very own headquarters. Your teenage daughter can get an abortion without your knowledge; Government can take your property and sell it to someone else just because they can get more money for it in tax revenue; Border Patrol Agents can be convicted and sent to prison for doing their jobs; Islamic leaders lie to us over and over again while they are preparing for a war against America.

"We must learn to call things by their real names," said Don Swarthout, President of Christians Reviving America's ValuEs. An example of this can be illustrated by a lady telling a story about someone's pickup truck being stolen and set on fire in a small town. The lady telling the story said, "Of course, the keys were left in the ignition switch." The people listening to the story said, "Oh well, no wonder then the truck was stolen."

The lady telling the story said, "No, I think the Commandment is; Thou shalt not steal, instead of thou shalt not leave your keys in your truck." The lady telling this story really had it right. She repeated exactly what the Bible says and we need to learn to always think that way. If everyone would just try to live by the Ten Commandments it would be a much better world....

"Every year CRAVE spends more than $500,000 :wow: just on the cost of our mailings compared to the ACLU's annual budget of $45,000,000. Where are the Christians who say they would love to see the ACLU shut down? If Christians could see the whole picture, they would help us to fight these battles."

I send stuff like this out to my 'savable' friends who still think that we are safer now that Saddam is gone and the ACLU is evil incarnate.

Sometimes it helps. :)

3. Funny anecdotal correlation to your post...
I have a friend who shares a place with a complete right-wing super-religious neo-con.
He's a huge Fox News watcher, has read every single Left Behind book (owns the movies, too) and, of course, refuses to sign up for Iraq.

He was making excited conversation about the upcoming expansion to the "Left Behind" video game (The right-wingnut snuff fantasy where you get to kill
liberals in the name of God). I idly mentioned Half-Life: Episode 2, which came out around the same time, and he shrugged and said "I'll just download that one"
(Meaning "take it off the internet without paying for it")

As I walked out of the store he worked in, I looked over my shoulder and said "I guess 'Thou Shalt Not Steal' is an optional commandment, right?"

By the expression on his face, it seemed like I'd caught him doing something really naughty and played it on the big screen in Times Square at rush hour. It was priceless.

7. Thank you.
Always like to make them feel like they've been caught with their collective hands in the cookie jar.

(I have a somewhat personal issue with his choice of which games to support: I rather enjoyed Half-Life 2, and paid for it, even. Buying the expansions
means "I like what you did. Make more of that, please." (And the way the developer sells the game, all the money goes back to them, not to some publisher.
That, and the Left Behind game was just...just ...bad. I mean, it was really bad.)

15. I have not seen one positive review for the game
and I've seen folks try and approach it from every background. Not one nice thing to say about the game.

X-Play did the best review I've seen:

21. Me either.
But it's twits like my friend's roommates that bought the game and made them enough money to do an expansion pack.

4. I wonder how many
of the 10 Commandments they actually follow to the letter. And shouldn't self-called Christians be following the Beatitudes instead of the Old Testament.

6. Most fundies don't even know the 10 commandments.
And the divorce rate for fundies is much higher than the population as a whole.

8. it is positively alarming the rate that
Christian churches and groups are persecuted in the US.

What a bunch of whiny ass, bible thumping, cross swinging creeps. These people are never happier than when they are complaining about yet another perceived outrage against their faith. They have an end times believing rat bastard occupying the white house, pat robertson law school graduates running DoJ, and Roman Catholic practicing supreme court justices making medical decisions for all women and THEY'RE complaining???

10. CRAVE should change their name to CRAP
and they have no idea how much the ACLU helps them, and all Americans, by defending everyone's beliefs, no matter how popular. I have wondered why the Right hates the ACLU so much, and I started to notice how much the NRA hates the ACLU and it all made more sense. Well, that and the ACLU also defends commies and whatnot. Can't have that in the land of the free, I guess....

You hit the nail on the head. They do NOT want freedom for all, just those who share their world view.

17. They just don't get it. When the 10% atheists take over and put the
88% of them into concentration camps, it will be the ACLU defending them, insisting on Habeas Corpus (too bad their boy cancelled it).

Edited on Mon Apr-23-07 03:41 PM by MasterDarkNinja
This is the kind of stuff that we should expose in attack ads against republicans and conservates in general and link to the candidates to show just how out of touch with american values these people are.

'insert name here is so extremely far out to the right that he/she is supported by radical groups that say we should destroy the American Civil Liberties Union, because those radical groups are against everyone having equal civil rights, and want to be able to openly hate and discriminate against whoever they want. Would you want to live in a world like we had 100 years ago before the civil rights movements were successful?'.

Instead of just hearing the kneejerk "damn the ACLU", people need to know what the origanization does and what America would look like if people like CRAVE had their way.

i like the part about "The ACLU says they are against someone searching your bags when you enter a building, but they have a scanner and search every bag coming into their very own headquarters." its because of people like 'crave' that makes such measures necessary!
