Yes, these are from the MURDOCH-(who donates to Senator CLINTON)-owned NYPost. No, MURDOCH does not dictate content to these two wingnut columnists. No, "gossip" does not equate with "UNtrue." No, not supporting authoritarians whether of the Right OR of the Left does NOT make me a freeper, DLC, corporate-whore, or countless other flaming names.

No To Hugo

VENEZUELAN President Hugo Chavez has a big following among the quiche-eating leftists who wear Che T-shirts and vacation in Havana, but Maria Conchita Alonzo, a former Miss Venezuela, will lambast the strongman's "anti-democratic practices and terrorist-encouraging rhetoric" in her keynote speech at the Latino Coalition's 2007 Summit on May 1-2 at the Four Seasons Hotel in Washington, D.C. Alonzo, who escaped as a child with her family from Fidel Castro's Cuba, said no matter how one feels about President Bush, who was called "the devil" by Chavez, "that is no reason to offer support to a man who has himself violated the rights of his own people."

ALEC Baldwin did stupid. Stupid is letting the divorce machine cripple him. Desperate, hurt, fearful his former wife and the current system were alienating him, he yelled at an answering machine. Jon Corzine gets medication for his pain. For sidelined fathers fighting the right to see a kid they'd die for, there is no opiate. Sometimes those wounds festering in this court last years and years and years. Speeding car, seething ex - both can kill you.

I have no contract with Alec Baldwin. I have no argument with Kim Basinger. I have not had a divorce. I have not breathed the toxic hate that fuels custody battles. I only know when he was on Broadway he'd fly to L.A. every other weekend just to see his kid for a day, then fly back. I only know his frustration was such that one night he was seen, all alone, smashing his cellphone against a lamppost. I only know the inability to be with this daughter he loves more than life has eaten him alive.

This is no walk in the park for Kim either but, since it happens I have daddy friends going through this at the moment, right now I feel for Alec. Stupid? Sure. But let's everybody temporarily cut this guy a little slack.

1. Well Ms. Alonzo is certainly entitled to her opinion....
but, if she's from that noisy rightwing crowd of Cuban exiles in S. Florida, I take her criticisms of Mr. Chavez with a grain of salt.

2. According to Wiki, she lived in Venezuela from the age of 5.
María Alonso was born in Cienfuegos, Cuba to Ricardo Alonso and Conchita Bustillo. She moved to Venezuela with her parents when she was 5 years old. She took her first steps in show business when she was crowned Miss Teenager Of The World in 1971 and was 1st runner-up of the Miss Venezuela pageant in 1975; she was also a finalist at the Miss World pageant in 1975 won by Puerto Rico's Wilnelia Merced; thereafter she quickly became a popular actress in Venezuela.

4. You might want to try reading it again
It definitely sounds to me like she is not a Bush fan. What she's daying is that it's not a zero sum game where if you love Bush, you must hate Chavez or if you love Chavez, you must hate Bush. She's saying that it's possible to think negatively about both of them.

6. Yes, he has, he takes after Bush.
Why didn't Chavez shut down the station five years ago after the coup attempt? Isn't it a little late to be doing this to RCTV if that is the real reason?
