If the flag is at half-mast for the VT massacre
Shouldn't it be at half mast for every soldier killed in Iraq? In which case, for the time being, it would stay that way.

1. 33 people killed is a tragedy
3,000 soldiers getting killed is a statistic.

Apparently.

3. And 650,000 innocent Iraqis slaughtered
is an insignificant detail.

5. Just think how we'll look at it if President Bush really does end up killing millions
But you know what's really important? John Edwards got a damn haircut.

9. Not just any old haircut - an "expensive" haircut.
A guy worth $millions$ spent $400 on a haircut. Really. Can you believe it?

A millionaire spends $400 on a haircut, and we are shocked; shocked, I tell ya.

13. Yeah, right. A millionaire builds a big house? Now you're just being silly!
"A millionaire builds a big house." Man, that's funny! I'm sure next you'll try some BS like, "His wealth allows him to provide very well for his family." Go peddle it somewhere else.

2. For them, it should be upside down. And for the hundreds of thousands of innocent people
we have slaughtered, it should be hidden in shame until the blood has been cleaned from it.

12. That look of his is familiar...
She's telling Dub: "You are under attack"!:eyes:

And yes; our troops have had their young lives snuffed out needlessly, too. But then, our government--and this Administration in particular--doesn't care about them, or their families, once they're dead. After all, they can't vote anymore, and their families are just sucking off of the government now--you know, the classic Dub/Cheney/Rove/Norquist philosophy.:grr:

BTW, I found out this weekend, at our county's Democratic convention, that Army recruiters are asking--and receiving permission from local school authorities--to gather hispanic kids in high and MIDDLE schools in one classroom and tell them that, if they agree to join up when they're 18, or get their older brothers or sisters to do so, their entire family will receive green cards as a reward.

Nice of the U.S. Army to be able to dictate immigration policy in this country, huh?

B-)

14. Or use the latest immigrants as cannon fodder
There was some huge riot of Irish immigrants in the 19th century over a civil war draft having that effect.

But if you serve in the US military in wartime, you can become a citizen without having to go through the green card process. The green cards the family can get are based on that citizenship and would take years thereafter (which the recruiters probably don't tell them).

Interesting what the right wing attitude might be to such troops. Foreigners fighting our wars for us. Too weird.

17. Surely not. For mere civilians? No, it must still be at half-mast for
Gerald Ford.

I, for one, am still struggling to come to terms with his demise.
