It's worth noting once again that the Republican opposition on this whole issue is a sham.

Much Entertainment To Come

Sen. Hatch is on TV getting cornered by a host on just what in this bill he'd be for -- if he supports health care reform but just doesn't like this version of it. It was pretty comical. The host asks him whether he's in favor of barring health insurers from denying coverage for pre-existing conditions. Oh, yeah, oh, we all agree on that, blah blah blah. No explanation of how you do that without dramatically broadening the risk pools.

It's not surprise. But it's worth noting once again that the Republican opposition on this whole issue is a sham. It is simply a vote for the status quo. And a bet that straight opposition can lead them back to power.

1. Of course it is
They're salivating at blaming the Democrats for forcing average families to buy insurance in the midst of a deep recession.

From a purely political viewpoint this is the the greatest gift our party could give them.........just as they looked to be dead with the voters.

3. Time will tell whether the repubs are right that opposition to this reform is a winner for them.
I know they think it is a winner, but they are far from perfect political strategists. Apparently, Obama and many Democrats believe the repubs will fall on their face in 2010 with their "we tried to stop health care reform and preserve the status quo" tactic.

We can speculate on who is politically smarter here, Obama or the repub leaders. Most who hate the bill, believe it will be a winner for the repubs. Most who are willing to accept the bill, think it will be a winner for Democrats. (Funny how that works. :) ) Time (about 11 months, actually) will tell.

4. No it isn't a vote "for" the status quo, it is a vote "against" Obama
The entire Republican Agenda is to try and make Obama Fail..No matter what it cost our country..
