Lieberman Suffers Big Ratings Drop
http://politicalwire.com/archives/2009/12/24/lieberman_suffers_big_rating_drop.html

A new CNN/Opinion Research poll shows that Sen. Joe Lieberman's (I-CT) favorable rating with Americans has dropped almost 10-points in the past two weeks -- from 40% to 31%.

Lieberman's well publicized opposition to the expansion of Medicare or the creation of any government-run public insurance option led to a Senate health care compromise that left many people upset. Interestingly, Lieberman's biggest decline -- a 14-point drop -- came among independents

1. Tweety had that as his "big number" last night.. I am sure he does not care
since he just wants to get a huge pay out with an insurance company job after he leaves the Senate.

He's going to run as a republican anyways.

16. He has been acting like a republican, campaigning for republicans,
and trashing every left wing priority for years. It is long past time for him to get booted to the curb.

Yes, the republican party will welcome him with open arms, and he'll run there where he belongs.

5. The only ratings that matter are those in Connecticut
The nutmeggers elected him -- wonder how his approval numbers are there.

6. They've been down for a long time. Buyers remorse set in on Unaffiliated voters
shorty after Lieberman was re-elected. If the Lamont-Lieberman race was held today, Lamont would win by about 10 pts. the biggest shift was among Unaffiliated voters. There were still about 25% of Dems supporting Lieberman, but that was down from about 30%.

9. He's smart and he's not going anywhere. Just watch.

He has too many supporters who will make sure that he always has sufficient resources to defeat anyone who runs against him.

10. He's probably retiring in 2012.
His approval ratings in CT plummeted almost immediately after he got re-elected, and polls repeatedly show just about any well-known challenger way ahead of Lieberman in the polls.

His supporters are few and far between these days. I don't know what you are thinking - he's either going to lose in 2012 or retire.

12. These fucks never retire, they want to stay in the senate until they die...Lieberman
Edited on Thu Dec-24-09 11:23 AM by GreenTea
just figures he has three more years to turn his numbers around, then Lieberman WILL point fingers at others, as well as lie, smear & distort through-out his campaign and finally, out spend his opponents with all that corporate money that the selfish, greedy corporate pig Lieberman has sopped up.

Lieberman has no plans to ever leave the senate until he dies or is defeated....Congressmen leave, Senate males will stay until they die, (or near death) much like US Supreme Court Justices.

13. Then he will probably lose. His approval ratings in CT have been in the toilet for the past 3 years.
And his recent antics certainly aren't helping matters.

Polls recently have shown Lamont would beat Lieberman in a rematch, fairly easily.

Lamont's running for governor now, so that probably won't happen, but any halfway decent Democrat could easily defeat Lieberman at this point.

why do we keep cowing down to him?

18. Because he's the mythical "60th vote" and he's here to stay until 2012.
I warned people about the consequences of re-electing Lieberman in 2006. He positioned himself to be our influential 50th vote from 2007-2009, and now he's the influential 60th vote.

It wouldn't matter if Democrats weren't so afraid of a Republican filibuster - there seems to be a gentlemen's agreement of sorts to not actually do anything that would cause them to use it. On the other hand, Democrats folded like cheap accordions whenever it was time to filibuster anything bad that Bush did. Maybe the whole thing is just theater? I don't know.

Contrary to what a lot of DUers think, there is no way to recall federal elected officials, never has been, never will be.

Used by Republicans, hated by Democrats.

11. Interesting....
Ever notice how even the most vile politician always has about 30% support? People like Bush, and now Joe LIE-berman.

I swear, 30% of people must be the most disgusting trash on this planet.

20. The insurance industry's suicide bomber doesn't care.
He knows he's out in 2012, so he doesn't care how many people he pisses off by cockblocking democracy. He's already got that cushy lobbyist job with the multi-million dollar compensation package lined up.
