Cheney Responds to Hagel's Criticism
By Associated Press

WASHINGTON - Vice President Dick Cheney shot back at Republican Sen. Chuck Hagel of Nebraska, who has accused the Bush administration of playing "a pingpong game with American lives" by sending more U.S. troops into Iraq.

"Let's say I believe firmly in Ronald Reagan's 11th commandment: Thou shalt not speak ill of a fellow Republican," Cheney said. "But it's very hard sometimes to adhere to that where Chuck Hagel is involved."<snip>

<snip>
Hagel, a potential presidential candidate, has been outspoken in his criticism that the Republican White House lacks a coherent strategy in Iraq.

His "pingpong" remark came Wednesday as the Senate Foreign Relations Committee debated a nonbinding resolution that condemned Bush's troop buildup in Iraq. Hagel co-sponsored the measure, which the committee approved in a 12-9 vote.

He was the only Republican to vote for it.

In the interview, Cheney also said he doesn't spend any time worrying about how the public or the media view him. When pressed to react to personal criticism from people with whom he has worked before, Cheney said: "Well, I'm vice president and they're not."

Cheney is like a trapped rat now. He's going to do something to save his sorry ass. How can our country survive TWO PSYCHOTIC people serving as President and VP?:scared:

The reason I am vice president is me and my old turd buddy bush stole two elections. One with the help of the Supreme Court and the other with the help of Ohio's blackwell.

9. I'm sure your niece
is nowhere near as self-centered, evil, and disgusting as anyone is this current administration. :) (She's probably smarter than the Decider-in-Chief, too...although there are times when I think my dog might qualify for that as well, bless her.)

10. Cheney refuses to let anyone know who is working for him
on the taxpayer funded federal payroll.

His press people seem shocked that a reporter would even ask for an interview with the staff. The blanket answer is no -- nobody is available. Amazingly, the vice president’s office flatly refuses to even disclose who works there, or what their titles are. “We just don’t give out that kind of information,” says Jennifer Mayfield, another of Cheney’s “angels.” She won’t say who is on staff, or what they do? No, she insists. “It’s just not something we talk about.” The notoriously silent OVP staff rebuffs not just pesky reporters but even innocuous database researchers from companies like Carroll Publishing, which puts out the quarterly Federal Directory. “They’re tight-lipped about the kind of information they put out,” says Albert Ruffin, senior editor at Carroll, who fumes that Cheney’s office doesn’t bother returning his calls when he’s updating the limited information he manages to collect.

11. "Well, I'm vice president and they're not." Arrogant piece of...
Well you know what I mean.

At least Hagel, even if he is a Republican, was elected to office. Cheney's only there because of the one that brung him. I doubt that anyone actually voted FOR him as vice president?

16. I heard some republicon say that his daughters were off limits ....
because they didn't mess with Chelsea Clinton. I recall that Chelsea didn't write a book or Chelsea didn't write an article in a newspaper preaching to the public about standing behind lies...If his daughters can preach to us then they should expect an response as well as their Daddy...

19. Yes - they opened themselves
to scrutiny and criticism when they entered the public arena with the book by Mary and that odious editorial by Liz. Liz and her husband are also our employees - they work for us and get paid with our tax dollars. And they are both adults.

Chelsea was a child when Clinton was in office, but that didn't stop McCain from unleashing a heap of very ugly verbal abuse on her.

28. Liz Cheney is no longer an employee of the Federal Government
she left her position dealing with Near-Eastern Affairs (read the mid-east there) to spend more time with her family after her fifth child was born last spring. Which is fine, but if we really are in a generational war, shouldn't she be working?

24. Remember Limbaugh's "botched" joke?
Back when he had his short-lived TV show in '93 or '94, he said something about "the President's Dog" and a picture of Chelsea Clinton came up on the TV for people...

After he got reamed over it, he claimed it was a mistake and the wrong picture came up. Franken called him out on that, saying if it was a mistake, what picture was supposed to be up there?

17. Yea, I saw Shooter in his interview with...
Wolf on Cnn. How he see's all the Iraq disaster(s) as success is a great mystery to most of us!?

Cheney knows the truth, he is just way to f'ing arrogant to care. Shrub mostly strikes me as simply stupid, Shooter seems intentionally malicious and antagonistic (particularly to DEMS).

I do believe in Karma, so I sure wonder what his payback will be?

22. I don't trust Hagel anymore than I trust Cheney BUT
Cheney is a TOTAL dick, Chuck ain't. Chuck cares about 'the people' because he wants to be POTUS in 2008. Cheney would love to shoot commoners and write it off his taxes as a business expense.

27. In Cheney's mind
The soldiers that are killed, the better, since it means they are no longer getting paid.

What's that King Edward (Longshanks) says in Braveheart? The King orders his Irish mercenaries to charge. When the aide suggests they use their archers, the king says something like, "arrows cost money, the dead cost nothing."
