2. w. European nations don't let rich assholes like Friedman tell them what to think
Edited on Mon Dec-21-09 09:54 PM by RainDog
and they have strong unions that make sure working people can survive on their wages.

and they have universal health care and a BIG top tax rate for the rich.

and they don't have religious idiots determining policy.

they have cost controls and subsidies to provide the basics of life for citizens.

education is important, not friday night football, in their schools.

teachers are paid a salary that indicates respect for their position and teachers are good at what they do because they attract top candidates b/c of these policies.

in other words, w. European nations don't have to deal with republicans. the "blue dog" democrats would be considered right wing extremists there. "socialists" here would be considered moderates.

...and those nations have consistently ranked higher on quality of life indices than the U.S.

the reasons above are why this is a fact of life.

5. Isn't it amazing that an "intellectual giant" like Friedman completely
misses the irony of his own statement in the context of his pathetic economic philosophy!

7. Why anyone takes what this guy says seriously anymore is beyond me
lest we forget his near bloodlust for regime change in Iraq? "Seriously, Tom Friedman is an asshole, indeed".
