What is becoming obvious as the shit hits the wall
This "health care" issue was never about reforming the care American's receive a the hands of the "health care industry".
It was never about fixing any broken system.
It is only about who is in line to receive the campaign money the insurance industry will be handing out in the next election cycle.
The only battle the reps and dems wage is against each others filthy grip on the moneys they need to maintain their personal powers.
I have many times come to the conclusion that politics is futile as the common citizen has absolutely no influence.
Hope and change were the carrots that lured me back into a sense that things could improve.
It is time we get over thinking that this system will bring any goodness to our lives. It is time to act locally to affect the changes in our individual lives that we can.

1. Deeply depressing, but very possibly true. k&r

Kill the bill.

Forcing people to buy insurance is no more the answer to a failed health care system than forcing people to buy houses is the solution to homelessness.

3. It does seem to be more about protecting the industry
from the will of the people, than providing health care.

8. Not just expensive, but policies that are unusable due to
high deductibles and co-pays.

11. We should have realized where this was going when it suddenly
went from health care reform to health insurance reform.

13. It's depressing to think too much about it.
I was never one to want to flee the country when Bush was running things into the ground. I was ready to fight. But this is just getting to be too much. I think I would rather take the $8000/year that I will now be forced to give to scam insurance companies and hire a good immigration attorney. If I stay, there is no way I am going to pay the mandate, which could get me into legal trouble.

15. WE are not powerless.
You might be powerless and I might be powerless.

But WE the people are not powerless.

We are just too timid to protect our own interests.

If there was solidarity, WE would have what Canada has.
