Poll question: If you're advising the President, what do you tell him?
Perhaps you disagree with the direction he is going? What do you tell him if you had his ear?

1. The first thing I would do is shake his goddam hand and thank him.
After that I would proceed to listening, as he is someone from whom I could learn much.

4. So you would not call yourself an "adviser"?
Maybe something else?

3. There are no 2 second slogans I can give him.
That's probably all he's getting right now. And if he thinks he's getting an accurate picture with that, then there's no hope for him at all.

9. First I'd ask him if he means to act like a corporate tool, and go from there. nt

10. Get mean and devious.
You can't just sit back and expect the legislative process to work as advertised. This isn't School House Rock. You need to be underhanded and coercive to get these assholes in Congress to do the right thing. Most of these lawmakers are from rotten boroughs, bought and sold by big-money interests. Treat them as such.

11. Mr. President, no body will love you for Governing well...
but you are doing a good job.

Health Care reform is tough, and it the result is not the all we hoped for, but it is an accomplishment and can be improved over the decades.

Continue doing what you can with what you have to work with. Perfection is beyond our means but not beyound our grasp.

I am a proud incrementalist...

15. :)
I must channel you but you type faster jonny!

I was going to say that I would tell him the same thing I have been telling Lynne Jenkins since she went to congress but then I really did not want that much excitement in my day.

14. Listen to Paul Volcker.
Fire Rahm Emanuel.

Aggressively prosecute members of the former Administration.

In general, grow a pair.

16. 2 things
Edited on Sun Dec-20-09 01:19 PM by Jamastiene
One: get new advisers

The one I voted here: Listen more to progressives and less to Blue dogs.

Both together would be good advice.

Several others wouldn't hurt either.
