on the discovery channel... hosted by no less than Tom Friedman
There were three things that were striking in the program (never mind that it did have useful information in it and quite a bit of it)
Did you know that George bush was pro windmill before anybody else, as governor of Texas? (Yep an effort to rehabilitate the boy king, after all the Governor of Texas doesn't have that much power... but it will look good to a nation that doesn't know that tidbit)
Wall mart is embracing the green revolution, and for once the reason Friedman gave made sense even in the world is flat kind of mentality. It is not because they are nice and hippie looking, but boy oh boy the savings in building energy efficient buildings translate to the bottom line. (Ok I could buy that one and if they go green because of that... sure the more power to them)
Oh and the last organization going green... the US Military... again the reason made sense, they have found how vulnerable supply lines are, and in fact it is surprising an M1 Abrans cannot run on just about anything. Them going green will mean R&D, and transfer to civie economy sooner or later, like the space program
The program, with its caveats, is worth watching. Mostly, when you have somebody like Tom Friedman (of the World is Flat) talking of this... you know change is in the air.
It will encore tomorrow at the Discovery channel... so if you have a chance, worth the time
