The website http://www.sunrgi.com home to the most advanced solar panels available, they work by concentrating sunlight into small dots like everyone has tried with a magnifying glass. The company claims to already be able to produce electricity thats cheaper than coal. The solar cells are also really cool looking. Don't take my word for it, check out the website complete with FAQ's and Photos. Can't wait till every building/residential roof and parking lot is covered with these things!!!

2. It's dark outside and it's snowing
How does this help?

3. Well, there's not much that can be done about the darkness...

...but the newer photovoltaic cells can work under up to 3 inches of snow I believe. Anything that produces energy without churning out massive amounts of crap is only part of the ultimate renewable energy puzzle.

EDIT: Just thinking towards the future, this technology could be used to create electricity that might be stored somewhere for use during the darker hours of the day. Think rechargeable batter storage.

4. There are batteries and other green energy sources that work when the sun isn't shining
Check out wind belts and such.

5. Not in Florida. It was sunny with clear skies today
maybe you prefer leveling mountains or killing people in the middle East for your energy? I didn't think so. Solar panels don't require full sunlight to operate, and 10 square miles worth would help America meet most of her energy needs. Salt flats anyone? How about subsidies for rooftop panels?
